Description:

1979 Jeep Cherokee S

1979 Jeep Cherokee S Wide-Track
In awesome condition for its age. It's been my daily driver for the last year, I purchased it from Nevada last year where it lived most of it's life, and had it shipped to NY. I just bought another truck so it's time to let this one go, regretfully. Please read the description below for details. I always try to under-sell and over-deliver, so I will attempt to be as transparent as possible as to the condition of the vehicle.
Overview:
This Cherokee has been driven in the desert forever, and was built for ultimate reliability. As such, there is virtually NO RUST!The prior owner put about $15k into the Jeep, and then I put another $6500 into it over the last year to bring it up to my standards. Literally every system, every part has been reviewed with durability in mind. Anything that was questionable was replaced even before it became an issue. Mechanically it's 100% gone through from bumper to bumper.
I wouldn't hesitate to take this Cherokee anywhere (I still drive it almost every day, long distance every few weeks). The 360 engine just purrs. No smoke or funny noises. 4WD works flawlessly, and impressively! You can take this Cherokee in the sand, the dirt, over rocks with no problem.
Body and interior is great - normal dents/dings/scratches for a 40 year old Jeep, but no damage whatsoever. Even the rear power window works, which is rare on these trucks. Carpet is brand new, seats are fantastic apart from stitching coming un-done (indicated below). It's really the ultimate daily driver.
This Cherokee has been a 100% reliable classic truck for me. It's not show quality, but it's certainly way above-average condition. It's not one of those museum trucks that you have to worry about getting damaged every time a bug hits your paint. It's exactly what you want for a daily driven vehicle, and it's a HUGE head-turner. I can't go anywhere without getting thumbs-up and people stopping me to talk about it.

Negatives:
  • The stitching on the 'seat' part of the front seats is coming undone. The leather still looks new (rear seat is near perfect). Easily fixable with a trip to an upholstery shop.
  • Factory heat was removed. Included with this sale is a new-in-box high quality aftermarket heater. It has an integrated heater core and blower, just needs to be installed.
  • The body has some bondo around the wheel flares. I don't believe this was due to rust, since there's no rust anywhere else on the truck. But rather, an attempt to smooth out the wheel flares better than the factory did it. The rest of the body appears to be bondo-free, and the paint is still shiny.
  • Factory radio still installed but doesn't work.
  • Factory-optioned A/C works but needs charging each spring
  • Needs new hood insulation, just for aesthetic purposes.
Also included with sale: spare automatic transmission and spare transfer case - both complete.
I tried to make this description as inclusive and transparent as possible, but I'm sure I missed a few things. There's no substitute for seeing it in person, so I encourage any interested parties to come view the vehicle before purchase. If you're not local and would like any specific photos not included in the listing, please message me and I'll get them to you. Any questions, feel free. As with any classic used vehicle, sold as-is with no warranty expressed or implied. Non-refundable $500 deposit due upon auction end.
