Every once in awhile a really nice vehicle makes its way to our lot. This one is one in a million: one owner, garaged & babied for its entire life leaving it with only 53K miles in 40 years & being optioned with an engine that only came in 6% of Jeeps & the last of a kind. This Cherokee isn't much different from a Wagoneer: same suspension, same all wheel drive, same comfort but in this case a very simple ride with that big & extremely rare 401. This was purchased new by Harry Shumate Jr from Roanoke VA for occasional rides to work at General Electric usually during the winter months so the miles stayed low. He never took it off road & kept detailed paperwork that proves the mileage is correct. Its extremely rare to have an original title this old: its dated 8-14-78 showing 101 miles! Sadly he passed away recently & a family member is now wishing to sell not wanting it to go to ruin. First: the body, bumpers, grille & bright work show no sign of ever seeing an accident. It is painted in the original Autumn Red (a metallic brownish/red color) the paint looks great: the color really pops over 95% of the surfaces but it is dull & worn in spots on close inspection. It looks equally great on the body, under the hood, roof & even in the door jambs. The chrome & aluminum parts truly appear to have just been installed! They are all THAT nice! As you can see the upholstery is near flawless with no rips or issues. Its like a new vehicle inside & out. The engine runs great & starts easily with many new parts including a completely rebuilt factory carb. The trans has also been serviced recently. No expense was spared to keep this looking & running great over the years. It comes with the owners manual, many service books & years of receipts. Also included is a complete jack assembly & roof rack tool. All glass is clean, no cracks or fog & all 5 windows work like new including the rear glass (it works by a switch on the dash or by key in the rear). There are no leaks, even thru the headliner & it is flawless from front to back! The trans shifts perfect, it has a new exhaust & muffler & tires with plenty of tread. EVERYTHING was carefully serviced very recently so you will need to do NOTHING! The seller wants you to be 100% satisfied. This vehicle will turn heads everywhere you drive it, its like a time capsule to the 1970s. Not many survived this intact & feel free to look all you want: you will NOT find one with a factory 401 engine unless you bid here. The vin:J8A18NZ137993 (the Z code makes this a factory 401).

This vehicle is very close to butnotflawless.The vehicle has air & its still all in place but it does not work. It leaks to some small extent when sitting: oil, trans fluid & gear case oil: many old cars do & did. All vintage vehicles need constant love & attention, expect that.
