Description:

1983 Jeep Other

1983 Jeep J-20 3/4 ton pickup truck.
I bought the truck in March 2015 and have driven it weekly ever since.
Has original 2bbl AMC 360 V8.Has original exhaust manifolds and still has a single exhaust with one mild Flowmaster muffler. There is no choke on the carb so it is slow to crank.Has original style electronic ignition.Has original gas tank with a hole in the top of it. Only holds about 10-12 gallons.
Original suspension and drivetrain.
Has 8-lug Dana 44 front axle with open carrier, disc brakes, power steering and manual lock hubs.Dana 60 full floating rear axle with open carrier and drum brakes.Gear ratio is 3.73.
Transmission is a cast iron Borg Warner T-18 with an us synchronized granny-low first. Shifts fine through all gears and doesn't make any unusual noises.Transfer case is a NP208 part time unit. Works as it should in all ranges. The shifter is sloppy but does shift into each gear with no binding. The 4WD light still lights up on the instrument cluster.
The tires are mis-matched all terrains with maybe 5,000 miles on them. All four are the same size LT265/75R16 mounted on 16x8 black painted wagon wheels.
The interior is in decent shape. Has no radio or dash pad. Seat is in good shape with no rips or tears. Floor boards are there... they have been patched with plain aluminum panels and riveted into place but they just hide more corrosion underneath. It isn't falling apart but does still have rust. All gauges work and light up as they should. The headlights work on high-beam only. All tail lights, turn signals and brake lights work.
The body is okay. The bed has no holes in it so it can haul whatever you want. The fender flares have been removed due to corrosion and were tossed in the trash because they just couldn't be salvaged. It has no tailgate. The hood and doors open, close and latch as they should. The windows roll up and down but the seals are shot. Has solid back glass and no sliding window.
It serves me fine in my construction business as a spare pickup. I drive it around Atlanta at speeds up to 70 mph.
I would recommend new brakes on the front as well as new ball joints.
