Specifications:

Befitting this upscale car's upscale price tag was its long list of standard equipment; among them were :power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes--the rears mounted inboard for lowered unsprung mass and improved ride. telescoping steering column, power sunroof, ower windows, irrors and antenna, central locking system, utomatic climate control air conditioning with separate rear seat controls, four-speaker AM/FM cassette stereo, eep pile carpeting, atched wood veneer décor, eather upholstery, ruise control and a comprehensive tool kit. The 10-cubic-foot, ully upholstered illuminated trunk had a bumper-height opening for ease of loading.

Around each corner of Jaguar's bread and butter sedan was a complex independent suspension; unequal length A-arms, oil springs, ube shocks and an anti-roll bar were used up front, hile in the rear were the E-Type-derived lower A-arms, alf shafts, railing arms and two coil-over spring/damper units per side. Both suspensions were mounted on pressed steel sub-frames attached to the unitary body via rubber mounts. A limited-slip differential was optional.

** The result was that the XJ6 was lauded for its incredible balance of a smooth ride and sporting handling. *1987 Jaguar power train: The "last" Series III XJ6 was built in * May of 1987, nd it marked the last installation of the vaunted XK engine in a production Jaguar, lthough it continued in the Daimler limousine elsewhere until 1992. More than 115,000 of these six-cylinder sedans were built in XJ6 and Vanden Plas forms, ith the bulk of production heading Stateside. The improved build quality and reliability that made these cars so desirable when new has meant that a surprising number of nice examples remain available today, nd they don't suffer from the electronic complexity or updated styling of their square-edged "XJ40" descendants.
