1956 Jaguar D Type “Long Nose” Recreation

This stunning car was created in 1989 in England By Charles Motors Ltd. (Google – Charles Motors Jaguar D Type for details.)

It is a pretty faithful recreation of one of the eight “Long Nose” cars built by Jaguar for the 24 Hour Le Mans Race in 1955/56. The running components are all Jaguar based. The engine is a 6 cylinder, win overhead cam 3.4 liter, ully balanced, ith lightened flywheel. An all-synchromesh gearbox with electric overdrive is mated to an independent “S” Type rear suspension. (The original D Type had a solid axle). Triple Weber 40 DCOE carbs are used. The original donor car for registration purposes was apparently a 1967 Jaguar 420. E Bay would not accept the actual VIN of1D52155BW

The body is a combination of GRP fiberglass, ith aluminium panels. Of note are the special speedometer, ev counter, e Mans gas filler cap and steering wheel which are all correct reproductions of the original D Type equipment.

The car was recently painted the correct Ecurie Ecosse Blue. The interior was also recently refurbished with heat insulation underlay, ew grey carpeting and leather seat trim. There is a lock-in fiberglass panel for the passenger cockpit and a vinyl tonneau for the entire cockpit area.

Total mileage on the car since it was built is 15,808 miles. Certainly in my possession it has never been out in inclement weather.

The car has an interesting history. The original English owner took the car to California in 1990 where it represented the Marque of Honour in the Monterey Historic Car Show. It also led the parade laps at Laguna Seca Car Races. In 1993 the car returned to England and then toured several European countries, ven participating in the Targa Florio, famous event starting in Sicily through the Italian and French Alps.

In 2003 it was acquired by an ex-Delta Airline pilot who exported the car from England to Cape Cod Mass. I bought it from him in 2007 and brought it to Canada.

The car is classified as a “1967 Jaguar Sports” and has been registered in California, ass., nd here in Ontario Canada.

I have enjoyed great success in high level Concours competition with this car. At the Ontario, anada 2008 JCNA Concours it scored 99.97 points. In 2009 it scored 99.70 points, nd them 2010 it won “Best of Show”, ith 99.85 points. The car attracts more attention then virtually any other Jaguar in the Concours events.

Apart from the sheer exhilaration of driving this car, t is a timeless work of art that represents an important era in motor racing history.

TFX International is a very professional company that can ship the car to the USA, r to a port for export. They can do all the border paperwork and brokerage too. They have done 2 cars for me and their work is extremely professional.
