“A True British Classic Sports Carâ€, rated by many as the Most Graceful and Beautiful production automobile ever produced.

THE E-TYPE JAGUAR…known to Americans as the XKE,really needs no introduction. IfEnzo Ferrari, a highly competitive man to say the least, crowned it “the most beautiful car ever madeâ€,that pretty much sets the ceiling in terms of praise --- 50+ years later the E-type continues to be celebrated andhold its place in history.
The E-typewas introduced to the automotive world in 1961after years of speculation. The brainchild of Williams Lyons and a passionate team of advisors and designers, it was aptly named E-type, as it was a clear descendent from the accomplished C and D-Types that had been dominating racetracks.Jaguar took what it learned on the track and applied it to the E-type.
In addition to being an engineering stroke of brilliance of its time, the E-type was one of the most attractive, sensuous and evocative designs ever to grace an automobile chassis--as quoted by one automotive critic “sex on wheelsâ€.As witnessed in numerous surveys throughout the years, including a survey done by “The Daily Telegraphâ€, the E-type consistently comes out on top as the most beautiful car ever built. Many consider the E-type FHC even MORE BEAUTIFUL than the roadster due to its stunning flowing body lines. As a result, the FHC’s are now increasing in value faster than the highly valued roadsters.
THE SERIES III V12…Ten years after the E-type’s initial debut with the Series I model, and following the slide in performance with the Series II models at the expense of emissions and comfort, something had to be done to regain Jaguar's performance reputation. Jaguar’s answer came in 1971 with the launch of the Series III V12 E-type Jaguar… A new breed of power set into the timeless breed of car. Twelve cylinders, V-formation. Smooth, silken power. With the new 5.3 Litre 12-cylinder Jaguar V12 engine, first tested extensively in the XJ13 concept race car, this was the ideal configuration for smooth, balanced, turbine-like performance. The engine displaces only 326 cubic inches and yet develops 314 horsepower for an efficient displacement-to-power ratio. It is a powerplant so logically designed, so perfectly balanced that it set a new standard for engine performance when it was first released. The twelve cylinders exert such a constant force on the crankshaft that the result approaches turbine-like smoothness. It propels the car from 0-60 in 5.8 seconds. Top speed is almost a fifth of the speed of sound. But it performs most profoundly in the passing speeds, when you need performance the most. In any gear, at virtually any driving speed, the V12 gives you instant power to pass, to avoid, to leave congestion in the rear-view mirror.
In addition to its smoothness and 5.3 litres of power, the V12 has… Single overhead cams for simplicity. Aluminum-alloy block, heads and sump for lightness. Flat-faced heads for excellent torque in the lower and middle-range speeds. And instead of a conventional ignition system, a transistorized ignition system that employed an electronic distributor with no contact points to wear or foul (significance -- a major cause of engine tune-ups eliminated)! Additional virtues include the fully independent suspension with “anti-drive†geometry to counter front-end dipping. Rack-and-pinion steering, power assisted with 3.5 turns lock to lock. Four-wheel disc brakes also power assisted and self-adjusting. Plus, all the luxury, comfort and instrumentation that you would expect in a Jaguar cockpit.
As for the body design, the short wheelbase FHC body style of the Series I and II cars was discontinued and the V-12 was available only as a roadster and 2+2 coupé with all cars using the longer-wheelbase 2+2 pan. The SR III V12 E-type provided better handling, and more comfort and room than the previous E-type models, and the original performance that was lost in the SR II was recaptured! With the SR III V12 even the family man with small children, or grandchildren, could now experience the thrill of driving an E-type Jaguar and not leave his family behind.

OWNER HISTORY
This 1973 Series III V12 E-type was purchased new by Ebb Tide Corporation, White Bluff (Nashville area), TN. Principles in the company were Tom Trabue and George Crook (presently a car collector living in Nashville, TN). When the company was dissolved a few years later, the car was sold to James R Pickel, Jr., a Jaguar Collector. He kept the car garaged, along with several others, and drove it only on occasion. He later sold the E-type to Michael Davis in 1986. It had 13,900 documented miles on it, at that time.
Michael Davis always kept the car garaged, and it was maintained on a yearly basis. With only 17,800 miles on the car, and although the car was in excellent condition, in 2000 – 2001 the car was dismantled (all chrome, doors, bonnet, boot, bumpers, etc.), taken to bare metal and repainted the original color (silver). New window and door gaskets were installed upon reassembly of the car. It was then entered in a Jaguar show for the first time in 2004 (Driven Class) and received a 98.89 point rating, for a first place win.
Since then it was purchased by Mike Kohler, another classic car collector, in the midwest. He garaged this car with ours in his collection and only drove the car on nice summer days, which is why the car still only has 20,884 ORIGINAL MILES and is in beautiful condition.
Note: Mileage, condition, and history can all be verified by the maintenance records and documentation included with the car.
CONDITION IS AS FOLLOWS
Paint: The car exterior was repainted once in the original color (silver) and has held up very well; of course it hasn’t been driven much which attributes to the condition of the paint. The finish still has a great shine as seen in the photos. There is one small (two inches) area that was scuffed and touched up on the rear fender well lip.
Body Sheet Metal: The body panels, and their fit, are also in great condition. And as seen in the photos, the floor pans are solid and very clean with the original factory glue intact.
Interior: The leather upholstery, the carpeting, the dash and control instruments, radio, etc. are ALL ORIGINAL and are in excellent condition – free from rips, tears, scuffs, etc. The original vinyl visors and headliner are all intact and in excellent condition as well. The radio is the factory original radio. It will require some attention as it’s very faint (may be the antenna connection).
Engine Bay: The engine bay is clean, solid, and very original. In the engine bay, mounted against the firewall you’ll find the original spare key that was shipped with the car that the dealer forgot to remove, which is extremely rare to see and further speaks to the originality and low miles on this car. One thing to note, in the photos you may notice a piece of foam missing from the top of the radiator shroud – that has been remounted since the photos were taken so the engine bay is complete and correct.
Trunk: The trunk compartmentis ALL ORIGINALincluding the original foam pads and exposed adhesive residue from the factory which are all evidence of its originality and low miles. The trunk plywood boards and upholstery are also in superb condition. Inside of the trunk compartment you’ll find the original spare wheel with the original tool kit/car jack.
Wheels/Tires: Tires and chrome wire wheels are original and in good condition as seen in the photos. There is some slight corrosion on one of the wheels, but that could easily be swapped with the spare wheel if you wanted all four shinning and looking great.
Glass: All glass is in great condition -- free from any nicks/chips/cracks.
Chrome: The chrome is ALL ORIGINAL, including the chrome wire wheels. The chromeis in great condition. As seen by the photos it has held up very well over the car’s life of almost 40 years.
