The XKE series Jaguar was an instant success from the moment it appeared on the automotive scene in 1961! The new model featured monocoque construction, 4-wheel independent suspension, disc brakes, along with rack & pinion steering. As each new generation improved, it continued to offer more features to buyers and, as a result, becoming known as "the prestigious luxury sports car from England!" Improvements included improved brakes, better suspension, superior interior comfort, more significant cooling, and bigger displacement engines. The Series II of the E-Type Jaguar came about in 1968 that featured a wrap-around rear bumper, larger repositioned turn signals & tail lights, a larger grille opening which now featured twin electric cooling fans for better cooling, open headlamps, redesigned toggle switches on the dash, as well as twin Strombergs replacing the triple SU's under the hood.
Description of this 1970 Jaguar E-Type Series II Coupe For Sale:
We are proud to offer a well documented 1970 Jaguar E-Type Fixed Head Coupe that has been fully restored in Carmen Red over Black interior! Dispatched from England in March 1970, this gently used Jaguar remains highly optioned with its original 4.2L DOHC Inline 6 cylinder engine and 4-speed manual gearbox. Additional features include telescopic steering column, chrome 72-spoke wire-spoke wheels with winged spinners, 1" whitewall radial tires measuring 205/75R15, along with an upgraded Grant leather-wrapped steering wheel, and more!
With documented history, dating back to the late 1970s when the car was in the care of Robert M. of a Middleton, MA, it later sold in March 1979 to Deborah W. who had a racing affiliation to Suffolk Downs Thoroughbred Horse Racing Track in East Boston, MA. At the time this classic car sold with only 48,028 miles on the odometer. The new owner would enjoy this particular model sparingly for only 2.5 years before selling to owner Clarence M. of Lynnfield, MA with 48,903 miles. Clarence immediately had the vehicle restored & repainted in October 1981 by Brookline Jaguar before presenting it to his wife as a gift. It would trade hands in 1985 to longtime owner Paul G. of Nashua, NH. Paul maintained ownership for the next 22 years and added limited mileage before commissioning a full engine overhaul in 2005 which included a new engine .030 rebore, new pistons, new bearings, rebuilt head, rebuilt radiator, along with a new clutch, master cylinder, stainless steel exhaust system, and more. Once hinting to a friend that he was thinking of selling his treasured Jaguar FHC, word traveled to Jerry Baker of Houston, TX who would purchase the car in November 2007 with only 50,800 miles on the odometer! The vehicle would remain in Texas for the balance of its life calling San Antonio home.
Today, this 1970s Jaguar is for sale with only 53,248 miles showing on the odometer which appears correct when compared to the vehicles provided historical records. In preparation for sale to its new owner, the St. Louis Car Museum recently performed the following services in February 2020: replacement of the entire cooling system hoses/clamps to the radiator, coolant reservoir, & heater system; new coolant, engine oil/filter change, new air filter, fuel filter, & NGK spark plugs; new upper/lower ball joints, sway bar bushings, tie rod boots; new braided stainless steel brake lines & rear brake pads; speed balanced all 4 tires, along with fresh carburetor adjustment and new fuel. We feel it could not be more ready for the upcoming warmer weather. This is a beautiful classic that represents the rarest of left-hand-drive Series II E-Types at only 3,785 FHC units produced between 1969 and 1971. Accompanying the purchase of this particular Jaguar is the all original tire changing equipment, original owner's manual, JDHT Certificate of Trust, and a detailed log of ownership history that is conveniently binder organized.
