1972 Jaguar X-Type

1972 XKE JAGUAR NO RESERVE AUCTION
I purchase this Jaguar from the third owner. It was originally purchased in Dundee, Scotland, then shipped to Geyserville, California in 1985.I have a number of hand written shipping receipts, which are difficult to read, but from my interpretation, this was the history.
The owners I purchased the Jaguar from unfortunately removed the V-12 engine and installed the current 351 Cleveland engine. I asked the son if he, by chance, knew the whereabouts of the original engine and he did not know. His father was the owner at the time and has since passed away.I started cleaning up the engine bay in preparation of installing a V-12 that I purchased last summer. I have far too much ambition and not the time. The body of the car has very few rust spots that I can find, one quarter size bubble by the drivers side rear window, and smaller bubbles on the deck below the windscreen. The undercarriage is solid, the rear underside of the sheet metal quarter panel has a 2" round hole and that's all I see. There is evidence that it had been painted when it came to the USA.
I intended to restore this Jagua, it is in really fine shape. The interior is very nice, perhaps replace the dash pad and front carpets. The floor pans are in great shape. Before I started disassembling the engine bay the son of the owner told me the engine ran really strong. I never started the engine so I can not confirm that.
On another listing I have a V-12 engine that I purchased with the intent of installing it in this Jaguar. It came from a 1973 X, the mechanic I purchased it from told me it had been rebuilt and he sent me a video of it running.
It is very rare to find the original tool set and lead mallet to remove the wire hubs.
This Jaguar is a fine candidate for restoration.
