1968 International Harvester Scout 800 “V”, Doll Up “GOLD KEY” Edition
Up for auction, out of my personal Scout collection, is this ultra rare, low production, Limited Edition Scout 800 “V” model with an option that has very little known history called a “GOLD KEY” model. In the 20 years plus of restoring and collecting Scouts, I’ve never seen another Scout with this particular option…ever. It’s not even mentioned in the Scout Encyclopedia. The Line Setting Ticket clearly illustrates and documents the option. Along with documentation of the Line Setting Ticket, the actual gold key is present and provided with the sale!
This beautiful baby Scout has been a long, labor intensive soft restore over the last six years. The exterior color was meticulously matched to its original shade of Aspen green that the Scout was born with. A few areas of new metal were addressed in the past which mainly included floors and fuel tank areas…otherwise very solid and original. The Beautiful interior was tastefully redone back to its period correct style. A brand new, complete wiring harness was installed. Additional after market gauges have been installed and hidden in the glove box In order to monitor the motor vitals in detail. Very stout and robust 266 V8 motor runs and sounds amazing. An upgraded electronic ignition was installed and starts effortlessly. Most of the exterior parts are new or have been rebuilt. The motor was cleaned the details and resealed. The radiator was able to be recored and saved and is the original specs as well as the original oil bath air cleaner. The new exhaust system is home to dual 40 series Flowmaster’s and sounds amazing! The height of the suspension was achieved installing a 2 1/2 inch suspension lift and new 31/10.5 tires wrapped around the original powder coated steel rims. The 3-spd manual tranny works as it should. New drum brakes all around.
With a heavy heart, I have decided to focus my efforts on other projects and therefore sell my prized possession. Please do your homework and research before bidding on this extremely rare Scout. Scouts with these particular options do not come up for sale often. A solid investment and a true slice of American Iron.
