Description:

1948 International Harvester KB5 Original

1948 International Harvester KB5 1 ton flatbed farm truck. I inherited this farm truck from my grandfather. I am the 2nd owner. He owned and managed a ranch for many years in Colorado. This truck has been garaged for over 60+ years at his ranch. It has 58,963 original miles. This truck is in working RUNNING CONDITION with the engine purring like a kitten. I can send a video upon request. The engine is the original 80 HP flathead inline 6 cyl. GRD-233 Green Diamond engine with a 4 spd manual transmission and 2 spd rear-end.
Here is the following work I did to it:
I replaced the 6V battery, cleaned out the fuel tank, flushed all the fuel lines, drained and replaced the oil and oil filter, worked on fuel pump, adjusted the carburetor and replaced the ignition switch.
I also rebuilt the starter. I cleaned and fixed the brake master cylinder. I replaced all light bulbs and they all work. I replaced thermostat, upper hose and radiator cap and added all new antifreeze. I had the original seat re-upholstered, and the broken seat spring frame welded and reinforced.
This truck has all original equipment. It comes with an engine crank bar, an on-board toolbox with split-rim tire changing tools inside. Comes with rear tire chains and spare tire. It comes with two ignition keys. The roof of the cab has minor dent damage. Both door windows are cracked. No major rust, only surface rust in places.
As is, this could be a working farm truck or when minimally restored would be a great collector's truck. These KB5's are rare in non-working condition, and extremely rare in good shape and in working condition like this truck is. I will be sad to sell it, as it's been in my family for many years, but I don't have a ranch to utilize it, and I don't have a garage large enough to keep it stored. I feel it would be best to sell it to someone who has a ranch and can use it, or to a collector who can fully restore it. Buyer arranges and pays for their own shipping. Thanks for looking.
