1966 International Harvester Scout 800

NO RESERVEI am reluctantly selling my 1966 Scout 800 Truck Cab 4x4. It was the very first classic truck I bought when my wife and I started making money. It has brought us a TON of joy. We have since had two children and ever since we have barely driven it. I take it out by myself to work and the store but can never ride in it with them being a two seater. I have made the decision to sell it and get something that can accommodate my entire family. I have put it off for a while as we still put it in parades for our business, photoshoots and such too but at this point it makes the most sense to move on.
History:I will have owned it for 6 years this upcoming summer. I live in the front range (Denver area) of Colorado. I purchased it from a long term previous owner in Fruita, Colorado which is near Utah and is all dessert. He drove it to me in Glenwood Springs (a couple hours on the highway) and I drove it home (2.5 hours on the highway). It wasn't fast but it didn't miss a beat and I was shocked.I have since gone through the truck mechanically and cosmetically. I really love the truck and am sad to sell it.
I did not wash, vacuum or Armorall any of the truck in these pictures. I pulled it out if the barn and took pics so you could see it in its authentic state.
Exterior:I had the truck painted back to its original Gold factory color but had the shop put in a 20% flattener to take the sheen out as it kept it looking old and classic because I wasn't doing a complete restoration and wanted it to blend with the aged chrome, emblems, interior and such. I have received so many compliments over the year of how classic it looks.
They did not paint the jams, those are original and that is what he matched the sheen to.
Everything else on the exterior is original. No rust, minimal dings or dents. Road worthy look but not show quality in my opinion.
I have two different wheel packages to chose from. One with hubcaps and the other with the cream steel wheels. Steels Wheels have 31" BFG Mud-terrains and are 50+%. The other set is a newer set of 31" All-terrains with more like 90% on them (pictured in the image with the hubcaps). Buyer can chose.
Interior:-Seats professionally re-upholstered in a really cool plaid---They are in EXCELLENT shape.-Tuffy Locking Center Console with cupholders. Houses CD/Bluetooth stereo and is lockable against theft.-New in-dash speaker.-Original Radio works and you can chose which one you want to use.-All Gauges and Gauge Lights work.-Heater works.-Horn works.-All dash knobs, Choke, Throttle, Wipers....EVERYTHING WORKS!!-Floor boards are solids with new IH floor mats.-Dual tank selector works.-Ash Tray is present too!!!-Hard top is easily removable and I can do it all by myself which was a lot of fun to drive without.
Mechanical:-Rebuilt Carb 4 years ago.-4x4 with locking hubs (works great).-41,000 miles but not sure if that has rolled over or not)--previous owner said it was original but I can't verify.-No power steering.-All lights, blinkers, brake lights, dash lights work.-Two Inch shackle lift and shocks.-Brakes are great-Clutch is great-New Fuel filter-All new plugs, distributor cap and wires a couple years back as part of a general tune-up.-New exhaust.-All new door gaskets.-Door locks work and I have all the keys.
NO APPARENT RUST. (none when we did the body work as it came from the dessert)Always stored in my barn.
NEEDS:(This is to the best of my knowledge)-Driver door interior door handle came detached inside the door recently when I shut the door so now you have to roll down the window and use the exterior handle to open the door. I was hesitant to pull the original door panel and cause damage to it.-The battery is about 4 years old and sometimes has been dead after sitting for a month or two recently. I am not certain it is bad or that I haven't driven it far enough to get it charged up.-It does not have seat belts.
Truck is mechanically sound but I am not a mechanic. I have had local shops due the work and it starts every time with the choke, a couple pumps of the gas and turn the key!! Even after not being started for a couple months. Truck runs great and smooth. Not fast but shifts, stops, drives great. I will really miss her when she goes.
I have an original (all black) rear seat with the sale.
