Own a piece of American history with this 1974 International 200 pickup truck!

What a time a capsule! This 1974 International 200 has seen it’s share of work over the years. International only built what was believed to be about 6,000 of these over the years, before the big 3 and the oil crisis shut down production of these big work horses. This is a rare truck, and combined with a good running 392, 4 speed manual that shifts like a dream, and 1 ton 4x4 axles, this thing is built to put those other trucks to shame! The only thing missing is the chest hair upholstery and a beard in the glove box!

Now, don’t get us wrong; she’s a great truck, with huge upside potential, but she’s not quite there yet. This truck has the startings of a restoration, as shown by the pictures. If someone had a little bit of time and resources on their hands, they could have themselves one of the rarest (and coolest) farm/ work/ show trucks this country has ever seen! It does appear that rust has settled in throughout the box, and into the doors/ fenders. The good news is that the sheet metal on it is very straight, and will just need some patch work done, or one could easily turn this into a flatbed / stake side truck in a short weekend, and dispose of the bed altogether. We have had many conversations about what “we” would do to this truck, but we agreed that the person purchasing this will get the final say so on whether it will remain in original form, or if it will get a lift kit, big tires, and a winch on the front. Either way, this is a very cool truck that will make a great conversation piece for years and years to come, especially as the remaining numbers dwindle down to nothing. We recently contacted an International pickup “guru” out in California. He said he hasn’t even received a phone call on one of these trucks in over 10 years, and was happy to tell us all about the history and rarity of this neat pickup. This truck will be the talk of the town no matter what the new owner decides to do with it!

Inward the truck is as original as you would want it to be. The previous owner has installed some form of “shag” carpeting to it, but it will come out very easy if that’s not the look you’re wanting. The original bench seat does have the fold down center console. All of the gauges appear to be in working order. Over all the interior has the right patina for an old work truck. The steel dash has the same color green as the exterior. All door knobs / and window cranks seem to work great. All of the glass is in good shape, showing no scratches or cracks in any of the windows. All in all this truck is a driver quality pickup that, with the right time and effort, could really make a shining example of what these old trucks really were. It just needs you to take it back to 1974!

Mechanically this truck is very sound. I will say that it will need the carburetor rebuilt or replaced, as it wants die out in idle when it’s cold. Once the truck is warm, it runs great. The original 392 V8 cranks over with ease, starts up with a few cranks, and has pretty good throttle response for a big old motor! Tap the throttle a few times and you’ll quickly realize that the exhaust is not the OEM set up. It has been fitted with a set of aftermarket mufflers and pipes. The clutch is nice and tight and the 4 speed transmission seems to find each gear flawlessly. The only thing we would note is that it is missing the front drive shaft. I can honestly say I don’t feel the truck was ever really “beat on”, but maybe just “forgotten about” in a barn for many years. The only real work on this (besides the carb) would be simple cosmetics.

So what’s the final analysis on the 1974 International 200? If you’re looking for a truck designed to carry up to 18 other trucks, this is your truck. If you want to load a bale of hay, we’ve got an F-150 for sale. If you’re looking to load a bale of horses, this 1974 International is your truck. If you need to pull a whale back into the ocean, don’t trust those other trucks, they couldn’t pull a salmon upstream. Trust the International 200, brought to you exclusively by Evolve Motors. The only one to get it done!
