Car Ebay Listing

Up for sale is my road warrior 1992 Honda Accord wagon. It's not the prettiest car on the road, but I've daily driven and road tripped in this car for the past 8 years and loved doing it. You get a surprising amount of attention from car guys for driving a somewhat hard to find car.

Biggest thing to note is the car has been stalling at idle intermittently, and my mechanic hasn't been able to figure it out, which is why I'm selling it. I've spent too much money chasing the problem, and I'm done. If you are more patient or know a Honda Wizard, I'm sure you'll be able to figure it out. I would not recommend driving this car home if you buy it. It starts, runs, and drives great most of the time but if it's feeling annoying you could stall out at a light and not be able to get it started for 10 minutes which really sucks.

The attempts to fix it included replacing the following:

-idling control valve

-single spark plug

-valve cover gasket

-distributor cap

-distributor wire

-fuel filter

-engine main relay

Overall, apart from the stalling, this car is very reliable. I have had a ton of work done. It has a clean title, it passed the very rigorous Maryland State Inspection in 2020 (not historic!).

Good stuff:

-WORKING AC! Very unusual in a car of this age, had the whole system fixed a few years ago.

-Working Cruise Control

-$2000 in front suspension work this spring

-New front brake pads and rotors this spring

-Timing belt done at 150k ish

-2 owner car, I bought it from the son of the original owner who took very good care of it.

-Original owner had it undercoated, so it's actually very solid in terms of lack of undercarriage/frame rust

-Whole exhaust system replaced 5-ish years ago

-New oil pain and oil pan gasket fixed a long term persistent oil leak

-I have all maintenance records from day 1.

-Oil has been changed on time every time during my time with it

-Full coolant flush less than a year ago

-New Battery

-New Starter

-New alternator, spark plugs & wires maybe 4 years ago?

-Full size spare in the spare compartment, original jack.

Stuff to address right away:

-Unfortunately, as mentioned above the car has been stalling intermittently and I'm having trouble solving the problem. If I had space to store it and tinker with it I would 100% keep it, but I live in a city with street parking so I can't have a project.

-Could use an oil change, it hasn't reached it's mileage limit for the oil change but it's been almost a year since I had it done.

-Tires are pretty old, probably 7-8 years. The tread is still good enough but I'd recommend changing them soon. Sometimes one will go flat if you ignore it for months without putting in any air.

Annoyances you may want to deal with sooner rather than later:

-Water collects in the spare tire compartment after very heavy rains. No idea how it's getting in there, I think if you were to drill a little hole and waterproof the hell out of it I think it would be fine, or find the leak source. For now I just bail it out with a plastic container after a big rain, annoying but it also works. If you ignore it, the water will fill up to the point of sloshing through the rear seat mounts and soaks the rear footwells, it sucks to deal with so don't let it get to that point!

-Rear hatch has no key

About a year ago I was hit by a sliding car in a multi vehicle pileup on a snowy highway. I gained several dents, scrapes, and a new rear hatch, so my key no longer works in the replacement lock. However 1) the lock works fine with the electric locks and 2) I have the old hatch with the matching lock cylinder, I just never got around to swapping them.

Quirks/Flaws, livable but you may want to deal with them all over time:

-Windshield wiper fluid sprayers aren't great. You can get some fluid, but not much. I unclogged them which took them from bad to ok, I'd recommending finding a new set at the junkyard

-Rear windshield wiper sprayer does not work. I replaced the tank a long time ago and it was impossible to find a wagon one with the two pumps, so I used a sedan one and lost the ability to spray the rear window.

-Cassette deck doesn't work/radio barely works. I've replaced it twice, I'm sick of doing it.

-Retractable radio antenna is broken off. Sounds like the motor still works if you care to replace the antenna, but I've heard it's a pain to do.

-Windows all work, but are temperamental. Driver window screeches and needs a little help getting in the molding, passenger front needs some help going all the way down, driver rear needs some help going all the way up.

-Driver door weatherstripping is pretty shot, you get a lot of road noise and dripping into the cabin during heavy rain/car washes.

-Driver door frame is a bit bent, from the looks of it a break in attempt before I ever owned it.

-Front passer interior handle is cracked. Still works, replaced it once, got lazy.

-Brake light warning light is off and on, doesn't correspond with the bulb actually being out.

-Door locks all work, power locks work, but you can only get in with a key and the driver keyhole is a bit fussy, it can take some getting used to.

-Rust in both rear quarter panels, and holes in the frame on the inside of the rear doors. Not great, but solvable if you want to. I got a quote for $2500 to repair all of the body rust a year ago.

-Lots of dents and scrapes, including the big one in the right rear from the car pileup incident. Hatch has been replaced, and the rear bumper has a crack from the same incident.

-Front side marker lights are a bit wonky from the same car pileup incident, all lights work but they stick out weirdly.
