Selling my original California 1979 Honda CVCC hatchback with 117k original miles. I moved to the mountains and I’m sad to have to part with my beloved little city car.
The original owner purchased it new in 1979 and it was garaged in Napa, CA until she died in 2014. I purchased it from the second owner in the East Bay in 2016. The second owner put some work into it but never registered or drove it.
In 2016 I brought it home to Oakland and after a carb cleaning and fresh battery this was my daily driver around the Bay Area until April 2020. I left in a hurry during Covid and the car was driven infrequently by a friend until September 2021. It has been sitting outdoors under a cover in Marin since.
It has a clean California title and is currently on planned non-operation with no fees due. I did not have any issues passing smog fairly since I’ve owned it, with an annual test in Oakland. But it will require a smog test to be registered again in CA if you live here.
The two-speed Hondamatic transmission requires manual shifts from 1st to 2nd gear but there is no clutch pedal.
I am not around to get it running again so please consider the current non-operating condition in your bid. If I return and get the car going that will be reflected in a higher price. I would guess it just needs some fresh gas, a battery and a carb cleaning but no guarantee is provided.
You can come by San Anselmo to check it out. Buyer will pick up with your trailer or I can have it towed from my friend’s house to a location of your choice in the inner Bay Area. I think it’d be great as a full resto, electric conversion or just a classic driver in it’s current state.
