Description:

1993 Honda Del Sol DEL SOL S

1993 Honda Del Sol DEL SOL S. Rather than going through the litany of manufacturer specs on this model, I will tell you that mechanically it is stock, and has not been modified for performance with a possible exception that the muffler/exhaust has been replaced with an after-market. That is it. You can look up more stock specs on this make and model if you wish.
Now, I will give you the honest deal on this car specifically... It was coming of age car. Had it since 2000. Lots of memories. I honestly want to keep it, fix it up mechanically and give it a good factory-like paint job, but I'm just not in the right time and place in life to do that right now, so need to sell to someone who ideally wants to do the same with it. Targa top locks great and easy and has never leaked a day in its life. Despite the fact that the exterior of this baby needs a good, loving paint job, the bones of body and the undercarriage are absolutely solid. No rust, pitting, corrosion, abnormal wear & tear damage, nothing. Always been in a Southern state with virtually no salt exposure. Garaged the last 10 years. There is zero issue with the structural integrity of this car. The picture of the undercarriage shows some normal road dirt/grime, but all metal has been checked and is good. The pics show after-market Altezza tail lights, but I have the OEM tail lights as well that are included with the sale. I would put the OEM back in myself if I were you. Also, I have the actual spoiler fin too (not pictured, but it's a dual fin. Larger lower fin, smaller upper fin.) I will include with the car as well. It was just taken off several years back to make a minor repair but the mounts were left on the trunk so that's how it's pictured.
The car is absolutely serviceable for sure, but does not start at this moment. It tries to turn over but just doesn't quite get there. It was last running in early 2020 and got sort of permanently parked right at the beginning of covid and hasn't been driven since. When it was last run, all 3 power windows worked. I had it in a shop and it was gone over by a mechanic who did get it to start back then. He replaced all the ignition components and the distributor. But here's what still needs to happen...
- Gas and oil are several years old. Need to drain the tank and lines, clean the tank and replace the fuel pump/strainer/filter.- Complete brake service...pads/rotors/hoses/shoes/drums, fluid flush- A/C conversion from R12 to R134 (compressor, accumulator, etc)- Timing belt, water pump & seals- CV joints- Tires (they have lots of tread but have been sitting too long.)- All fluids flushed/changed- Windshield washer squirters & wiper blades- Motor mount(s)- Outer tie rod ends- Trailer arm bushings- Rear lower control arms- Radiator hoses- Serpentine belts- Wheel alignment
At that time (circa early 2020/pre-covid,) all the mechanical work was going to be in the vicinity of $5,000 - 5,500. Maybe call it about $6k today. I make no warranties about any other components. Just trying to give you an honest assessment of where it sits today to the best of my knowledge. Fixed up, this baby would be a gem again like it once was. Super fun to drive! Considering that with about $6k of mechanical work plus a decent paint job, this car will be right along with all the other mid-90's Del Sols that are selling for $15-20k all day long, but possibly even better because all those components would be new.
Local pick-up only, but you can look into alternative transportation to get it to you since it will have to be towed/hauled regardless of where you live or the timing of the pick-up/delivery. Ideally, car must be picked up by Friday, July 1 with prior or on-the-spot payment completed. I love this car and want it to go to a good home. Please reach out with any questions you have. Thanks for checking it out!
