Description:

1987 Honda Civic

If you’re a classic Honda wagon fan, this is a sweet find. I’ve been driving and restoring 3rd gen wagons for the last 10 years - this one is my second one. But I’m selling it because I’m moving and need to finally let go of it.

This 1987 Honda Civic Wagon is Real Time 4WD and has been very well taken care of. I’m the third owner and I put a LOT of money into restoring the mechanics - it runs great and has been a fantastic daily driver.
I have service records to show the work I’ve had done to this car:

• Complete Transmission Overhaul

• Clutch Disc in Good condition as reported by my mechanic (ASE certified master technician)

• Brand New Catalytic Converter (this car WILL pass CA smog test no problem)
• Replaced Rack and Pinion
• Replaced Brake booster
It drives great and the only thing left to do to it would be new tires in the next year, new brakes in the next year, and a new motor mount if the vibrations start getting too much at stop lights. That’s it.

Cosmetically, there are a bunch of things I had left on my To-Do list. The new owner will inherit that stuff, but let’s be honest, that’s the fun part.
I’m only interested in dealing with serious buyers so I’m going to give as much detail as I can about the car…

Mileage: 287,125 (based on all the work done to this car and how clean it runs, it will easily pass 300k)
Title: Clean

Owners: I am the 3rd owner

Here are the things you should know about the EXTERIOR:

Though the car looks great at first glance, a close up inspection will reveal the exterior has minor dents, dings and scratches throughout as expected with a 33 yr old car
The paint job on the hood is pretty beat up on close inspection
The horizontal guard strip on the rear hatch door is worn to the metal (very common for old wagons) The rear windshield defroster strips need a refresh (only a few of the lines defrost - also very common for old wagons)
There is a long, shallow scar along the passenger side of the car (was keyed at some point?) hard to see from most angles - see pic in linked photo album
Antenna is bent and appears clipped
One out of the four Honda wheel caps is missing (easy to find on eBay)

Here are the things you should know about the INTERIOR:

Windshield wiper switch is loose so it’s kept in place with a custom made foam stopper - see pic
Hairline crack on dashboard, near windshield
Headliner (ceiling of car interior) is pretty beat up - bruises easily - add to list of things to freshen up!
Fabric on the front seats is very worn - I put on new, fresh car seat covers until I could re-upholstering the old fabric interior, but never got around to it
There’s a hole in the vinyl molding around the rear passenger seat - see pic
Spots of surface rust around tops of doors. Otherwise, car is free of rust
Read hatch door has tired struts that don’t hold door open reliably so I’m using a custom cut wood stopper to hold it open (replacing the struts is an easy fix, I’ve just been procrastinating on that one :p
Cargo area carpet is trashed so I laid down floor mats to cover and protect that area
Vinyl molding in cargo area is bruised

• And if all that wasn’t enough…this car is A/C capable! Very hard to find a 3rd Gen Wagon with A/C but this one does. My mechanic said the tubing was a bit flattened and we would need a new compressor but that it was a pretty simple fix to get cold air blowing in this little guy. Another thing I didn’t get around to doing :/
This is a great car, it drives really well, and has so much potential.
The mechanical restoration is pretty much complete, now all that’s left is the cosmetic stuff. If you’re a Honda wagovan lover, you’re in for a lot of fun!
