1985 Honda Civic Wagon Wagovan 4WD 4x4 Manual

Price: US $2,300.00 Item location: Oliver Springs, Tennessee, United States
Description:

1988 Honda Civic Wagon standard

Up for sale is my '85 Civic Wagon, also known as a Wagovan.
This car has only had 2 owners in its life to my knowledge. It spent about 30yrs being used in a farming community, and I bought it with the intention of using it while kayaking and mountainbiking.
The body has surface rust, but no serious rot to my knowledge. The sheet metal is surprisingly straight, so a little media blasting and high-build primer would go a long way if you're looking for something more pretty. I personally liked the look and intended to keep it exactly how it is. The front windshield is cracked.
The engine has been completely rebuilt and has <100mi on the rebuild. It was converted from the original vacuum operated nightmare to a simple Weber carburetor. It could use a good tuning but runs well as it is. It has enough power to spin the tires on dry pavement. All gears shift well, and it has the SL (Super Low) or "granny" gear. Getting into "SL" is a bit tight, probably due to lack of use.
The wagon originally came with rear drum brakes, but these were converted to disc brakes using some custom CNC'd parts. It stops very well. I wanted to dabble in rally cars, and this was going to be the start of that before life got in the way of hobbies. I am not aware of any other Civic Wagons with a solid rear differential and disc brakes. Due to the disc conversion, the emergency brake is bypassed.
This is the last year of true 4WD; the later years used a viscous coupling driveshaft that is prone to failure. This one has a solid driveshaft and solid axle rear differential.
To my knowledge, the odometer is correct. Has a clear Tennessee title in my name.
The carpet and front seats were trashed and decomposing due to sun exposure, so I pulled the carpet out and fixed the front seats well enough to make it drivable. Bucket seats could probably be fitted pretty easily, as it should be compatible with the same year of Civic. Other plastic in the interior is decomposing due to sun exposure. I smelled a bit of gas at the rear exterior, so it may have a leak back there somewhere.
Comes with a box of spare parts and pieces that were removed during conversion. Also comes with the Haynes manual.
This is a pretty rare car, it has lots of personality and can go dang near anywhere. I looked forward to spending a lot of time with it, but I have bills to pay. My loss is your gain!
Feel free to ask questions, and I would be happy to show it to those interested.
For sale locally as well. If it disappears, you missed out!
IMPORTANT!!! I don't do shipping companies. I need the person who buys to be here when it's picked up. If you don't inspect it before you bid, you inspect it before you leave with it. I want the buyer to be fully aware of what they are buying. Nobody likes surprises when it comes to used cars!
