1974 GMC Jimmy SUV Yellow 4WD Manual Sierra
1974 GMC Jimmy Sierra
Rare 1974 GMC Jimmy Sierra. Loaded with A/C, woodgrain trim and vinyl side panel, 350 V8 and SM465 4 Speed Manual Transmission with Saddle interior. Correct low back buckets and spare tire carrier are still present. VIN plate matches blue door sticker, glove box sticker and purchase paperwork. All options listed on original SPID in glove box. Nothing cooler than a full removable top K5 with A/C and a manual transmission with woodgrain trim. I found this one local to me in Athens, Alabama. We were on a house hunting trip for our move out here and I happened to drive by and see this Jimmy parked outside a shop. I spoke with the owner. He used it to bomb around town in the Summer. He bought it from the local original owner who used it to move airplanes around a crop duster landing strip. When I moved a few months later, literally my first order of business was making a deal to buy this Jimmy. I had just sold my 1972 Blazer Highlander which I spent 5 years restoring and was itching to get another K5. I wanted to get the equivelant of my 72 Highlander but in a full removable top square body. The 69-72’s are becoming too common so I wanted to get something a little more unique. This GMC Jimmy was purchased new at Bentley GMC in Huntsville, Alabama (still in business today). I have most of the purchase paperwork. The top is stored off the ceiling in one of my garages. It needs a bunch of body work. The good news is the worst of the rust is visible so you know what you are getting. This isn’t a dolled up truck that will be swiss cheese when you get through the nice paint (reference my 72 Highlander Blazer. I had to replace every panel besides the cowl and hood once I started sanding down the old paint). This truck will need several panel replacements but, the good news is they make everything for these now including bedsides, cargo floor, doors, and windshield frame. This truck is an oddity in that the underneath is extremely clean with no rust. The rocker boxes are rock solid. Frame is clean with hardly any surface rust. Bedsides, doors, floors, parts of the rockers, fenders and top of the windshield frame will all need rust repair. Mechanicals on this truck are actually very solid. I drove the thing on to my trailer and into my garage over a year ago. I did add stabil additive. I threw a new battery in it yesterday and it started right up. It runs quiet and some fresh gas would probably help a lot. It moves around under its own power but I would not drive it far. Previous owner said the engine, transmission and transfer case were done a few years ago. The transmission mounts look newer and definitely has signs of having been out of the truck and cleaned etc. previous owner told me he charged the A/C every summer and it would blow cold for the season. I will help meet your shipper and can store until it can get picked up for a reasonable amount of time. I will mount the top for transport. Only reason for selling is I had a chance to buy a 1962 Belair Bubbletop 409 and need the room for it. I’m also listing a solid last year square body 1991 V3500 single wheel crew cab shortly. Can do package deal on them. Cold Start Video: https://youtube.com/shorts/YHX87Ta7DiE?si=GBCVX9CVJ_IiiJX4
