1979 GMC Sierra 1500

Hello, my name is Rowan. This is my 1979 GMC Sierra 1500. It is for sale with no reserve. It goes for what it goes for!

This is a relist, I put this Truck up for sale just before Christmas. The previous buyer did not pay. I then spent 3 months overseas. So that was fun to deal with. I have been unable to relist until now. Please if you bid, actually you know, mean it.

Tons more pictures and video of engine running can be found here:

Bad:

Bill of Sale only. Please note, the Title is listed on Ebay as "Salvage". It does NOT have a salvage title. In the state of Georgia it is registered as a NO title. Ebay does not let me put in NO title.

The original temperature sensor went out last year. I had it replaced, but the new one is not properly calibrated. So the temp gauge always reads HOT. But when taking temp of vehicle it stays ~170 degrees F.

Burns about a quart of oil for every ~600 miles of travel.

Interior dash is all cracked. Since this has been a sunbelt truck, the rust is not bad. But the UV damage sure is.

Rear bumper is bent. See pictures above.

Previous owner put in an after market radio. It has CD features and aux in. But the speakers are pretty mid.

Neutral:

Though I believe this is a 1979 model. All the paperwork I have on it is as a 1970 model. Which in Los Angeles means it does not require an emissions test to be road drivable. That may bother you, and if so when I sell to you I will give you a BOS for 1979. Or it may not and you can leave it.

It's a column shift. Three in a tree. The transmission is as good as it came out of the factory. So eh.

The shifter also occasionally hangs. But the transmission has been rock solid in terms of durability. I replaced the clutch when I got the truck. And besides oil changes it's never been an issue.

I have not serviced the carburetor. It's given me no troubles. But figured you oughta know.

Good:

Body and Frame are in really good condition. The worst is in the right fender body panel. And the left fender body panel. Which I have been unable to replace despite dozens of scrapyard visits. The bed is also in really good condition as well. Except for a rust hole by the back driver's side wheel well. Which is in the pictures.

Brake system was rebuilt in 2021. Master cylinder was weeping and I decided to get the whole thing redone.

HEI Distribution System. Always starts right up.

Comes with full service history since I have owned the vehicle.

It's my daily, so it runs good. And has been well maintained. Mostly short drives around town and the occasional camping trip.

Radiator flushed last summer.

New Oil Pump put in last year.

Comes with everything pictured, toolbox, extra seat, spare tire.

Delivery: I have never in my life tried to deliver a truck. So I am putting this as "Buyer Responsible".. If you are within a day's drive from Los Angeles I will drive it to you. Or meet you as far as Las Vegas. For the cost of gas.

If you purchase this truck, but want me to hold it. I can do that for a few months.

Or if you have a company that you work with that delivers vehicles, I am 100% comfortable using them to deliver it to you. Assuming you pay for shipping. I just can't guarantee delivery because I have never used a truck freight service.

If I had the time, I would drive it to anywhere in the 48 continental states. But I can't get off work.

If you want to see it feel free to message me and you can stop by within reason to test drive. Please let me know if you have any questions that I can help with in any way.

Truck History-

This truck spent most of it's life in Georgia before I moved it to Southern California. I am not sure who the original owner was. However it eventually found it's way to a father and son. The father and his son rebuilt the engine sometime in the mid 2000's ~80,000 miles. They ran it for a few years before being sold to another man in Georgia.

He was into trucks but didn't really use it much.

Then he sold it to me around ~2018. I bought this truck when I graduated college. And then used it to move out to California. It's my daily, but I work remote now. And so really only use it once a week or so. I purchased this truck at 120,000 miles. And have since put around 20,000 miles on it in around 5 years.

This has been my only GM vehicle. Grand daddy drove fords, daddy drove fords, and I'd like to sell it to go back to Ford. Make no mistake, I love this truck. It's a good truck. But it's not MY truck. So I haven't wanted to put the money into full restore it. But this could be YOUR truck. And so I want you to have it.
