This is not just another groovy van from the the seventies. This is an authentic 4 wheel drive van converted by Pathfinder Equipment Co. Pathfinder was the premier 4x4 Van conversion company based out of San Gabriel, CA, in the late 60s- early 90s, they were responsible for the creation of the Ford "Quadravan", Dodge "Vancharger" and the Chevy/GMC "K" Vans. Whether it was a contract for a municipality ambulance or just a a weekend warrior Pathfinder was responsible for converting the majority of Vans to 4 wheel drive. They had a reputation for quality that was second to none. They were so good the conversions were fully covered under the manufactures warranties. For all intensive purposes a Pathfinder 4x4 van is essentially a factory build 4 wheel drive van.Now what makes this van extra special is the fact it was special ordered out of Sacramento, CA in late 1975 by the Pacific Telephone and Electric company as a 1 ton Vandura 35, short 110' wheelbase, 6 window Van. After completion it was drop shipped from the factory straight to Pathfinders facility to be outfitted for 4 wheel drive. In December of 1975 this 1976 Vandura was shipped and delivered to its new owner in Sacramento, CA as a 1976 4x4 GMC Vandura. The fact this is a short wheelbase 1 ton van that has been converted to 4 wheel drive is unique, in fact its so rare Pathfinder only converted 6 short wheelbase "K" vans total in 1976. This is not some backyard conversion job, this a professionally fabricated 4 wheel drive van done by the premier 4x4 van companyin 1976. Go live the van lifestyle and overland your next adventure or use this rig to promote your business. Don't miss out on this opportunityto own this rare pieceof 4 wheel drive history and a unique rig that can take you anywhere.Cosmetically this Vandura is a stunner. The original Pacific Telephone & Electric flat green paint was revised with high quality PPG 2 stage custom mixture of Marina Blue Poly and Blue Mist Poly. The body and paint are in exceptional condition, the paint is not just a cheap respray it was fully painted inside and out and the quality of materials exceeds the quality in 1976. The body is straight with no damage and zero rust. The floors are solid with zero rust. All of the windows are in good shape with no cracks, the tint has aged. The chrome grille is in great shape. The bumpers are original General Motors bumpers along with smaller van trailer mirrors and authentic Police light. This is 100% authentic American made originalparts, there are no cheap asian made tinny reproduction parts on this van. The white 16 inch steel wheels have original GMC 4x4 hubcaps and brand new 265/75r16 All Terrain Tires.Step inside this Blue beast and the possibilties are endless. Build it up to the ultimate overland rig or pack it with motorcycles and go ride. It is still the original 1976 Saddle interior complete with captains chairs and authentic 1976 GMC Vandura paneling. It even still has the original skinny GMC steering wheel. The ceiling has been insulated and covered with oak wood tongue and groove paneling. The dash is in good shape with no cracks, all of the gauges are functional. The period correct Police spotlight is functional as well.Mechanically this is a more than a capable rig and comes equippedwith the best you could get in 1976. If you think about it a factory short wheelbase with heavy duty 1 ton axles and suspension is somewhat of an anomalyand impossible to get in a truck form. There is no such thing as a Chevy/GMC C30 or K30 short wheelbase truck unless its been hacked and swapped. This van was ordered from the factory complete with a large narrow Corporate 14 bolt full floating and locking rear end with 4.10 gearing. It is still powered with the original drivetrain a 4 bolt main 350cid v8 motor along with a TH400 transmission and a NP205 Transfer case. The motor has been rebuilt and runs great. The pathfinder conversion included the Dana 44 front axle with disc brakes fabricated to a van along with a refabricated steering box, heavy duty shorter leaf springs and the NP205 transfer case along with additional crossmember fabrications and leveling the rear end.Click Links for IDLE WALKAROUND and DRIVING videos.
