Description:

1979 GMC Sierra 1500

Truck sold a few weeks ago to a buyer from Germany that was unable to complete the purchase... PLEASE do not bid unless you intend to follow through and purchase the truck. Thanks and good luck.
GMC Sierra Grande K15 4x4 square body. It is factory short bed 4x4, built in Fremont CA and has been in CA since built and still has original blue CA license plates. It is considered a "heavy half" 1/2 ton pickup. We have only owned it for a little over a year. My son drove it daily to school and work for part of his junior and senior years in high school.
We purchased the truck from a local private party. It had a tired Chevy 350 motor and it seized on my son last summer. We purchased a new Chevy 350 crate motor from Summit Racing. Since install of new motor he has driven less than 3,000 miles. It is also CA smog legal and has a current smog certificate. It has TH350 automatic transmission, hi/lo transfer case with Hurst shifter and Warn Industries metal locking hubs.
I do not believe there has been any major rust repair and I believe all body panels are original. There is minor bubbling behind the rear wheels. Floors and under doors seem really good. Minor rust in bed corner. Clearcoat is pealing and we took pictures and videos showing the condition of the paint, small dings and rust spots. A previous owner did a color change from maroon to blue. Paint is poor due to clearcoat failure. Glass is in decent shape. No cracks or major chips. Door seals are good and there are no leaks from rain into interior. It has a sliding rear window that rattles but does not leak.
Chevy SBC 350 crate motor, have receipt from Summit Racing in my pictures. $2,500 ATK High Performance Engines HP291P - ATK High Performance GM 350 330 HP Stage 1 Long Block Crate Engines. Receipt attached. It does have a smog (CARB) legal aluminum intake and Edelbrock 4 barrel carb. It just passed CA Smog. Runs good, takes a little bit to warm up when its cold first thing in morning. Stock exhaust manifolds, has a catalytic convertor, and aftermarket turbo muffler. Sounds good. Slight weeps from differential covers. Auto trans leaks around pan. No leaks from engine.
Runs, drives, shifts and 4 wheel drive all work like should. It's a 45 year old truck and it does not drive like a 2022 model. However it does have power brakes, power steering and was able to be safely driven by a 17 year old kid down the freeway with one hand on the steering wheel.
It was a AC truck but many components were removed by previous owner. Heater / defrost and fan work. It has dual gas tanks and sometimes fuel gauge is wonky. My kid would usually fill up and try to keep 1 tank full.
It has a mild 2-3 inch lift with Rancho shocks. It has 33" x 12.50" x 15" Firestone Destination AT tires on GM Rally wheels. Classic good looking truck. It has California blue license plates still!
As mentioned this is my sons truck, and although he loves it and it has been fun to have in high school he needs to move on to a more practical car. He is going away to college and this wouldn't be the best for the distances and miles he plans on driving. We are in Sacramento CA. If you are local you are welcome to come by and take a look. Truck always gets thumbs up and questions at the gas station. Although it isn't perfect it's fun as is or would be an easy truck to restore or customize. If you are out of state, we will help with any questions and shipping (buyers expense). Also I have a few YouTube videos just copy and paste the links below.
