1985 GMC 1500 Sierra Classic
The square-jawed third generation GM C/K 1500 pickups are growing in popularity every day, and the best ones combine the best original features with only mild upgrades and simple performance touches that don't take away from the original spirit of these tough American classics. This cool 1985 GMC 1500 Sierra Classic regular cab/long bed pickup sports a correctly resprayed Desert Sand paint job, a smooth-running 305 V8 LE9 small block, and plenty of factory features for the guy who wants a work truck to show off on weekends or a weekend truck that can still go to work. Repainted in correct code 64 Desert Sand Metallic (or simply Gold, for those of us that appreciate brevity) not long ago, the excellent driver-grade finish has a great shine that shows very well, with only minor imperfections found under great scrutiny. There's simply no trace of the original paint anywhere on the exterior of the truck either (not even in the door jambs), which means despite this GMC's blue-collar roots, it was treated to a professional paint job typically worthy of more expensive vehicles. The truck has never been rusty or damaged from what we can ascertain (this is a lifelong Texas truck with low owners and no accidents shown on its Vehicle History Report), and the very straight sheetmetal is what makes the paint look so good, with nice gloss and better than average panel fit. Other than the chrome chip guard on the hood, a cool retro toolbox, and an upgraded rear bumper, it remains totally stock, without so much as a cowl-induction hood to set things off, and you really can't argue with the results. All the original trim was retained following the repaint as well, including the bright rub strips along the body, the Sierra Classic badges, and bright chrome bumpers fore and aft that look awesome against the gold paint. The bed is protected by a spray-in bedliner and shows a few signs of use, but nothing serious and that means you won't be afraid to haul anything you like back there, and with 8-feet of real estate, you just may drag half of Home Depot back with you. One of the strengths of the third-generation C/K 1500 pickups was their spacious and comfortable interior. With its original bench seat reupholstered in factory-looking beige vinyl, it has a fresh look that's still ready to get some work done. Everything remains in pretty good condition with some light wear but absolutely no splits or tears in the upholstery, and everything works as it should. Tan carpets with heavy-duty mats add a degree of formality to the interior, as well as helping to control noise and heat from underneath, although they could use a good detail. A complete array of factory gauges keeps an eye on things underhood, and only the dash pad betrays its age, with a few splits on top due to a life spent in the warm, sunny climate of Texas. The original GMC steering wheel definitely adds further comfort to the interior and works well with the black and gray accents on the dash and door panels. Options include an AM/FM radio, cruise control, tilt wheel, power windows and locks, and factory A/C, and all of these components are operable! History's most reliable and versatile engine lives under the hood, a 305 cubic inch V8 LE9 small block that's remarkably stock. The engine bay remains clean and well-maintained, with plenty of evidence of proper maintenance, suggesting that someone always cared about keeping it in top shape. There's a factory 4-barrel carburetor under the original air cleaner and even the original jack assembly is still strapped to the inner fender, and a heavy-duty aluminum radiator keeps the whole show nice and cool. Cast iron exhaust manifolds feed a custom 2-1-2 exhaust system with a Flowmaster muffler, so it has a high-performance voice that you'd not expect from this sleeper GMC. Underneath, there's a freshly rebuilt 4-speed automatic transmission which gives it quick reflexes with great user-friendliness on and off the highway. The underside is original but incredibly solid, more proof of a good life in a warm climate. OEM Rally wheels with beauty rings look sporty and wear 225/75/15 Hankook radials at all four corners. If you're looking for a clean truck with no real needs and a great color combination, you really can't do much better than this for the investment. Call today!Vehicle Details:
