Description:

1956 GMC 150 Big Window

The vin/title is a GMC 150, however most parts are from a Chevrolet 3100. I purchased it in early 2016. Had a child recently and unfortunately need to get rid of it. Honestly had plans to keep it for years, it can be left like it is for awhile and be driven daily if wanted. The body is in really great shape. Very little rust. Big back window. I do have a chrome rear bumper for it but I don't have the brackets to install. The paint job is good but not great. The tire tread is great. Original suspension. No power steering. Drum brakes. Dual glasspack exhaust sounds amazing. Very minor transmission leak but doesn't cause any issues. Had digital gauges installed into the original dash. The battery and oil gauges work but the gas and speedometer currently do not. The truck starts right up and drives amazingly well. Brand new crate motor installed 2 years ago and have only driven around town since then. Below is a list of some of the other things that have been done since I have had it.
Brand new crate motor 350 installed April 2016
New radiator (April 2016)
New water pump (April 2016)
New led taillights (April 2016)
Completely re-wired (April 2016)
Edelbrock 4 barrel intake (July 2017)
Edelbrock 4 barrel carb (July 2017)
Heater (October 2017)
Two drum brakes replaced (early 2018)
The guy I bought the truck from wasn't able to give me a lot of information (he wasn't very friendly). I did some research and found an older ad that was posted for this exact truck based on the vin number. It explained many of the questions I had. Here is an excerpt from the ad: "she began life as a 56 gmc same as title reads, converted to to 55, big back window added, cut frame from long to short bed. bed is original short bed, this truck was built by a 66 year old gentlemen in his spare time. she has some bondo in her, has a 283 v-8 with a 350 turbo, new wheels and tires, exhaust, shocks, no power steering or brakes, but drives as good as it did in 1956. New paint (single stage) has not been cut and buffed yet."
As you noticed above, the 283 has been changed out with the crate 350. And it does have really good drum brakes in it right now.
