1940 GMC Panel Truck

I bought this panel truck back in 2001. The gentleman I bought it from had had it since 1987 and I have the documentation. By the time you are finished reading this ad you will have confirmed that I was very organized and methodical as I have saved every single receipt as well as every manual and every installation instruction and even blueprints for this build. So in 2006 I bought a new house and one of my new neighbors was a hot rod builder. A perfect opportunity came up for a frame off and we started that late 2006 and it took until late 2008 to get it to the point where it is now. We were just about ready to lay paint and finish up the bodywork when my mechanics wife got a job opportunity back east and they only had four months to move. My choice was to get it painted and then I assemble myself or for him and I to assemble it together so we left it in PPG primer and assembled it to the condition you see it now. I drove it a fair amount the first couple years and then of course less and less as time goes by and now it seems like it is just taking up space in my garage. I think it is time to let it go and see someone else enjoy it. I have been going to car shows with it for many years and have never been at a show with another one.MOTOR: The motor is a 406 CID displacement Chevy 400 block with blower pistons. It has Holly 177 blower with a matched from the factory 650 cfm Holley carburetor with Manual 50cc dumps. It also has a Weiand water pump, Dart aluminum heads, MSD 12 position alternator, 2 1/2 inch stainless exhaust into magna flow mufflers and then 1970 Challenger exhaust tips. The headers are Hedman Shorty.TRANS: The transmission is an art car 700R4 four speed automatic rated at 450 horse power and it has a Superior 2500 torque converter.DIFFERENTIAL: The rear end is a Moser True Trac posi with 323 gears and 33 spline axles.BRAKES: The brakes are from Stainless Steel Brake Company and are four wheel disc brakes with dual piston calipers and slotted rotors.AIR RIDE: The air ride is supplied by Air Ride Technologies with a four link rear end, upper and lower tubular a arms, and shockwave airbags. The air ride system is an ARC 4000 ML level pro compressor system. The autolevel is not installed and not present.OTHER GOODIES: Other things that are notable are Mac's four core aluminum radiator, Specialty Power Windows, EZ wiring harness, Hagen bear claw door latches, 2006 Chevy SSR pick-up bucket seats, all stainless brake lines with kugel clamps, B&M Mega shifter with a four-speed conversion kit and a Hearst line lock. There is also a flaming river stainless tilt column with a flaming river D steering wheel. It also has a Power Master gear reduction starter, Dinomat on floors, inside doors, inside air ride box, and all of the roof. aluminum NHRA certified driveshaft, and to show you the level of detail all inside interior screws are Allen button head stainless and every hole was chased with a tap before we put in the screws. Every rare piece of interior trim is present and perfect. The floorboard is very nice. It is made from old world Cypress and was under water reclamation wood that I had shipped And a local wood Craftsman shaped it to fit in the car. I even have a spare board in case one is damaged and also the original Can of urethane so it can be matched. The bumpers are made by Briz Bumper Company. The picture in the back of the truck you will see double battery boxes. They are made to look like aircraft containers as that was the general theme I was going for. Inside one of them is the battery (new Optima spiral cell) with room upfront for a tool kit and in the other side is the air ride computer and the compressor. That box has been lined and Dinomat to keep the sound of the pump from being too loud in the cockpit. A couple of body mods have been done including removing the center cowl vent and also the glove box and the wiper inspection covers. The bodywork has been completely done except for the runningboards the front fenders and hood. Door gaps are great but the biggest issue for body alignment as the front of the hood. This was an incredibly rust free truck when we started and there is very little bondo or body filler anywhere and we bought every brand new patch panel and door skin we could find to make sure we started with something good The frame Is powder coated blue and has had every unnecessary whole removed and it is boxed for greater strength. The air ride tubes run inside a protective plastic tube that runs through the frame so you do not see excess stuff under the truck. The wiper arms are missing but all the working parts are there and working well. When we installed these we forgot to tighten the allens and they both flew off on the freeway and got run over. The power seats are not wired and the speedo cable is not connected. This truck is completely turnkey and runs great and will include extra parts and things I feel should be kept with the truck such as a battery tender a air pump you can plug into your cigarette lighter in camp in case the compressor ever goes down and some spare airlines I have rigged up to a bicycle type air valve so that if the servo ever goes out you can simply unplug the air hoses and plug them into this and fill it up at the gas station and that will get you home. As I said no detail was overlooked as I built it to be my own and I felt I would have it for my entire life. Trust me if there was a $200 part and a $500 part and I wanted the $500 part I just bought it. So I am running this truck on a seven day auction and I would welcome anyone that wants to come by Beaverton Oregon to inspect it to feel free to make an appointment with me and I will show it proudly. I also have had experience in working with automobile shippers and will gladly do so if you have it taken away by a carrier. If you come to pick it up I will gladly give you the four hour tour LOL deposit of $1000 to be made through PayPal with in 24 hours of winning the auction and the balance due in cash or by PayPal within seven days. Auction will run to it's conclusion so save us both the trouble of making offers if you have not seen it. Questions are welcome and encouraged. Good Luck!
