At MotoeXotica Classic Cars, who are we to disagree? We're very pleased to present this 1972 GMC 2500 Sierra Grande 4×4 Pickup. This example was made at General Motors' Flint, Michigan factory. It left the factory with the following equipment - sliding rear window, heavy-duty front and rear springs, Power-Lok rear axle, power steering, camper wiring, Cheyenne Super equipment, tinted glass, Four Seasons air-conditioning, ComfortTilt steering column, heavy-duty battery and AM/FM pushbutton radio.
This top-of-the-line, ¾ ton 4×4 truck is finished in a two-tone white over red scheme that is in overall excellent condition, with only very minor blemishes visible upon close inspection. This truck underwent a frame-off restoration. There are some windshield chips but overall, the truck's windows are clear and intact, including the optional sliding rear window, which is an excellent way to vent the cab, particularly while on the highway. The truck's lights are in very good order and it rolls on vented chrome wheels with Bronco Radial APD light truck tires at all four corners, size 31×10.50/50R15LT.
All of its bodywork is straight and the long box looks good inside and it has a bedliner. The engine bay is quite tidy and the battery looks newer. This truck has the following new parts - suspension, wiring harness, fuel tank, brake lines, radiator and electric radiator fan. It also has Warn Lock-O-Matic front hubs.
Under the red hood is a rebuilt 350 CID V-8 engine with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, intake and performance headers that produces over 350 horsepower and with a Vintage Air front-runner engine drive system and breathes through dual exhausts. Backing the engine is a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission with a tall floor shift lever. Driver convenience features include air-conditioning, power brakes and power steering
Inside, every interior part has reportedly been replaced. The black bench seat looks sharp and is in excellent condition. The matching carpet looks very good, as does the black headliner. The red and black instrument panel is also in excellent order and features full instrumentation. The truck's horn is inoperable and there is a four-spoke Chevrolet truck steering wheel from the late 1980s or early 1990s. The inner door panels look great in red with black trim. The mirror glass and shift lever are in good order and the truck has a stereo with FM/SD/USB/MP3 capabilities.
The 1972 models were very similar to the 1971 models, with the only change being the rear view mirror was glued to the windshield rather than bolted to top of the cab, and metal or vinyl-covered flat door panels were no longer available; all trim level door panels were molded plastic with integral armrests and wood grain inserts on Cheyenne and Sierra trim levels. For restoration, it should also be noted that the door and window cranks were slightly longer due to the molded plastic door panels, and the vent windows were now secured with a single screw on the inside of the door, thus differentiating it from the 1971 model year.
Competition this GMC in 1972 included Chevrolet's own C20 Cheyenne Super, Ford's F250 Ranger XLT and Dodge's D200 Adventurer SE.
This truck is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 56,776 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
