1951 GMC Pickup

This is a great GMC pickup from 1951. I acquired it in 2004 in Texas and took 2 years to get it into this condition. Since acquiring, this truck has never seen rain or the end of a water hose. It is cleaned with a damp towel and immediately dried with microfiber cloths. Stored inside, and taken out on nice days only, to car shows, out to eat, or to the golf course. It has never stranded me out on the road and always got me back home. I have been to a couple Barrett Jackson Auctions in Scottsdale in the last few years and have compared my truck to those being sold (Advanced Design GMC and Chevys). Some are better and some are worse, in my opinion, this truck would be above the average in condition, restoration, paint, and quality. I have a Reserve Price on this Auction and it is at a level that stills leaves it some $10-15000 below the prices being paid for these trucks in very good to great condition. BJ auction results are posted online, check it out for yourselves. In addition to the truck, I have ownership records that go back to 1982, a couple drawers full of "spare/extra" parts, a fabric cover, GMC 47-54 Maintenance Manual, and a 47-54 Chevy Factory Assembly Manual. As you will see in the pics, I have replaced the majority of "exposed" bolts with polished SS, under the hood and in the bed.
Body: All 4 fenders and the 4 panels of the box are new steel, doors, hood, and cab are restored original equipment. Running boards are new steel. Front and rear bumpers are triple chrome plated, as well as the grill. Chrome headlight bezels, chrome tailgate hinges with SS chains, Chrome "GMC" emblem on front of hood. Chrome tail light brackets with Blue center tail lights. The bed of the box is oak (stained and urethaned) with polished SS rails, Stakerack is red oak with SS bolting. Doors fit pretty good, almost all glass was replaced and re-rubbered. The 2 small vent windows on the doors look great, but need to remain closed. Tires are Radial and have only 2000 miles on them. A spare tire is mounted under the box with period correct brackets. Paint was applied in 2005, you also get a pint of paint with the truck. The only paint chips (small) appear on the bottom front inside corners of the hood (hint-don't let anyone ever just slam the hood down).
Interior: New headliner, door panels, floor insulation and rubber matting (1 pce). Heater was re-cored and installed with working heat valve and fan. Seat has been redone with understated ribs and piping in seating areas. Has working foot starter, manual choke, manual throttle control, and adjustable dimming dash lights in gages. Windows roll up and down with ease. Has after market "GMC" looking radio with new speakers (can't get radio to work though). I have installed a battery cutoff on firewall. Truck has a working center cowl vent which can bring in a breeze to the truck while driving. Original floor of cab was pretty rough, but I installed new metal and is solid now.
Electrical: Truck has been converted to 12V, negative ground, with working alternator. Working headlights, running lights, and tail (brake) lights. Working turn signals as well as 4 way flashers. Working foot dimmer and gage lights. A second horn has been installed to give it a dual tandem sounding. 12V outlet under dash. Battery cutoff switch on firewall.
Drive Train: Motor is an inline 6 Cyl, period correct 228CI GMC with pressure lubrication and oil filter. Oil bath air filter, 1 BBL carb, with good compression. Radiator was re-cored in 2004. Transmission is a 3 speed stick (on the column) with clutch and throwout bearing replaced in 2014. New u-joint installed in 2014 on drive shaft. Rear end has stock 4.11 gearing. New shocks installed in 2005, as well as and extra leaf in rear springs to bring back of truck up to a level it needed. New muffler and aluminum tail pipe installed in 2005. No smoke in exhaust.
