1937 Ford Slantback Sedan
You know that car you always see with the crowd around it at the local cruise night? Well, his is it. Beautifully finished, his 1937 Ford slantback 2-door sedan shows off what the ideal combination of modifications and style can do to what was once just a transportation appliance.OK, o nobody will ever accuse the 1937 Fords of being ugly, o that's probably why the guys who built this one left the sheetmetal alone. No chopped top, o radical de-trimming, nd no outrageous paint job, ust clean, onest Ford steel in the original shape. Of course, it and finish are worlds beyond what Henry could manage in 1937, ven if he were willing to spend the money to get it to this level. Look closely and you'll note a few mods, ncluding the shaved hood ornament and smooth deck lid, ut nothing that immediately jumps out as a custom touch. The body was smoothed and finished to a very high standard before several coats of luscious black basecoat went on, ollowed by a few layers of clear for an impossibly deep shine. While they were at it, hey gave the grille a coat of the same stuff, nd you'll love how it highlights the body's subtle creases and curves. A simple band of stainless trim highlights the curves of the bodywork and the bumpers were tucked in tight for a smoother look. The interior is the kind of place that you'd be happy to spend a weekend or more, hanks to comprehensive upgrades that make it as comfortable as a modern luxury car. The front are beautiful low-back tan buckets, nd in back the original bench has been retained. Upholstery is tan leather so its bright and airy with a strong sense of style and it's plenty comfortable for long-distance cruising. The original dash has been reworked, nd the stock instrument panel has given way to a billet insert with modern VDO dials for all the major systems. A powerful A/C system is so neatly integrated that you'll have a hard time believing that Ford wasn't building them this way in 1937. A gorgeous leather-rimmed banjo-style steering wheel lives atop a tilt column and that billet aluminum shift lever links to a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission. Under that slanting deck lid, ou'll find a surprisingly spacious trunk with a cleverly disguised battery box and neatly finished tan carpets. The engine is a Chevy 350 cubic inch V8, o you know it's powerful and reliable out on the road. Fully dressed with lots of chrome, his will be part of the reason for the crowd forming around this car. A big Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor atop a polished intake is a time-tested combination, nd the dual exhaust system was built as much for sound as for performance, ecause this car sounds amazing. The front suspension is a familiar dropped I-beam with disc brakes, hile out back there's a 9-inch Ford hanging on leaf springs. The quality of the workmanship is evident everywhere you look, nd it has not been driven much since it was completed, o even the chassis is bright, hiny, nd clean. Even the polished Torque Thrust wheels and fat rubber don't seem to show much use at all.Expertly engineered and beautifully finished, his is the car you've been dreaming about adding to your collection.
