1970 Ford Shelby Mustang GT350
1970 Ford Mustang
This 1970 Shelby Mustang GT350 fastback was built on June 20, 1969, and sold by Tallitsch Ford Sales, Sycamore, Illinois. Finished in Grabber Blue over White knitted vinyl, it is powered by a 351ci Windsor V8 mated to a FMX Select Shift Automatic transmission and features power-assisted steering and front disc brakes, as well as a fold-down rear seat and an AM radio. This GT350 shows 34,869 miles is offered with a Deluxe Marti Report, Shelby American World Registry book, Original Owner’s Manual, 1969 Shelby Shop Manual, 1969-1970 Unique Parts Catalog.Per the SAAC Registry of the 12 Grabber Blue Shelby Mustang GT350 sold in 1970, there were only 2 factory painted Grabber Blue made with white interior and no AC making this car a very rare car. One of the previous owners did not like the Grabber Blue and spent $10,000 to paint it Royal Maroon, another rare color, plus he did not like the automatic and changed it to a 4-speed transmission.Five-spoke 15” alloy wheels wear Cobra center caps, polished lips, and Goodyear Eagle tires. The car is equipped with power-assisted steering and brakes, the latter of which features discs up front and drums out back. The cabin is trimmed in white knitted vinyl high-backed bucket seats. Color-keyed upholstery covers the optional Sport Deck folding rear seat and door panels, while white/black faux teak accents the doors, and the dash, and center console are finished in black faux. A roll bar with inertia-reel harnesses was standard on the Shelby Mustang. A three-spoke steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer flanked by coolant temperature and fuel indicators, while an oil pressure gauge and amp meter are mounted ahead of the shifter. The five-digit odometer shows 34,869 miles. At present the horn, radio, interior lights, oil and amp gauges are not working. I have tried finding an old school guy who knows these cars with no luck. SAAC tells me that all run through the amp gauge to the fuse panel. Possibly a wiring problem.Power is sent to the rear wheels through a wide-ratio four-speed manual transmission and a 3.25 traction lock rear end.The Deluxe Marti Report outlines original colors and options as well as build and purchase dates.
