Description:

1970 Ford Mustang

This 1970 Mach 1 has spent most of its life in California (and also stored indoors) so it has very little rust. All sheet metal appears to be original. It came from the factory with a 351 2V and Toploader 4 speed. Highly modified for racing at Willow Springs Racetrack in the 80's by a previous owner. Current engine is a 351 Cleveland and supposedly BOSS 351 internals and heads. The engine runs very strong. The original close ratio Toploader 4 Speed has a Hurst short throw shifter and shifts smooth. Here are just some of the mods: gutted interior, racing seats, heavy duty roll cage, battery relocated to trunk, Howes Racing Aluminum Radiator, Aluminum water pump, all ignition components are MSD, car lowered 2", fully gusseted control arms, driveshaft safety loop, Aluminum Trans Am/Minilite style Wheels, Caltrac traction bars, fiberglass hood and fiberglass bumpers, Hooker Headers with side exit exhaust, limited slip/locking rear differential (3.9 ratio?). In 4th gear at 3000 rpm it does 60 mph.Although this came with desirable options from the factory, most of the items on this car were removed and sold. No door glass, no power steering, no heater, etc. What you see in the pics is what comes with the car. The only flaws that I am aware of: The rear end is very noisy, probably ready to be rebuilt. The tranny is very difficult to shift into reverse when the car is cold; after driving for a few minutes it shifts into reverse without any issues. The car is very old and so has typical bumps/bruises/minor oil drips from engine. The exterior is in ok shape but could really use a new paint job. I drive it occasionally around town as it is street legal. But where it really shines is on the race track. I have raced it several times over the past 3 years at our local Autocross sessions and it is a blast to drive.
