Here we have a very special find, a 1966 Ford Galaxie 500XL original California, one family ownership most of its life, original sales documents and service history from day one, Special Order paint (Sapphire Blue) with only 89,500 original miles!

This car was originally purchased in November 1965 from Dunton Ford, Santa Ana CA. and ordered with Special order paint Sapphire Blue which was not available on the Galaxie in 1966, the original data plate shows no paint code and the original window sticker shows the Special paint and the original sales documents show it to be Sapphire Blue (see pics). The original California owner kept amazing records from every service to flat tire receipts. A box full of Docs is included. In 1999 the original owner passed and left the car to his daughter-in-law and was kept in storage until a few years ago.

This car is all numbers matching 352 4V Special Thunderbird big block, Automatic trans and 9" differential. The following is a list of what has been done in the last few years to bring the car back to life and ready to drive without issue. New fuel tank, fuel pump, carburetor rebuild, belts, hoses, plugs, wires, points, battery and a light engine detail. New tires, brake hoses and brakes. This car starts immediately with a twist of the key and settles into a smooth idle.

The paint is new in 2023, a professional base coat, clear coat job. NOTHING was painted around as this was a professional job requiring all trim, door handles, emblems, etc be removed for painting. All chrome was removed and replated and the pot metal was restored and replated as well. The glass is like new. New door, trunk and roofrail weather stripping.

The interior looks fantastic with no rips and only a small one inch seam at the top outside corner of the driver seat back that is beginning to come loose which can be an easy repair. The headliner, dash cover, seat belts (NOS), carpet and door panels were replaced. Pics show floors prior to installing new carpet.

All in all this is a wonderful original car that is sure to increase in value. Possibly a one of a kind, with tons of provenance! My reserve is very fair for a car of this quality, an Impala would go twice as much. Please ask all questions or inspect PRIOR to auctions end not after.
