1972 Mustang Convertible 351c Ford Cleveland Q code, M code, H code
1972 Ford Mustang
1972 FORD MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE
Options are listed on the Marti Report shown in the pictures attached. (Main options: 351C engine, Power Steering, Power Top, Front Disc Brakes)
ENGINE:Mustang came originally equipped with the 351 2v Cleveland H code Engine. Engine was rebuilt by prior owner who was a professional engine builder. He rebuilt this engine with a mild cam with increased horsepower and it now has a 4v intake and carburetor. There are 0 miles on the engine as well as the rebuilt C6 transmission. The 351c engine is believed to be original, I took a few pics of the back of the engine where the vin stamping is located and it appears to match the cars vin (see photo's in ad). The transmission is not original and is a C6 transmission. The prior owner stated he wanted a heavy duty transmission to support his engine build power.
The Ford C6 transmission was rebuilt, but the builder did not correctly install the O-Ring on the shifter shaft so there is a leak at that point. I have been told this is an easy fix.
The drivetrain is in the car. The car runs and drives. I have only driven the car in and out of several garages on my property while sitting on crate in the car since all the interior is out.
There is one pic of the inside of the gas tank. The tank was cleaned out and a new sending unit installed.
THE BODY:I have two hoods for the car. The original flat hood and the NACA (Mach 1 Ram Air hood) hood. Both will come with the car.
The body was being prepped for paint when I purchased the car. The prior owner was block sanding the car out getting it ready for a fresh coat of paint. The original color of the car was Medium Bright Yellow Paint. But you can now paint the car any color you would like at this point.
I have never seen a set of floor pans as clean as these. I have taken photographs of the interior floor pans showing no rust at all. The undercarriage was factory coated with an undercoating. I was able to easily wipe off several sections of this undercoating with a rag with thinner. They are clean as well.
The only rust I have found on the car is shown in the last picture. It is on the passenger side rear quarter panel right in front of the wheel opening at the bottom. It is the size of a dime and could easily filled with a spot weld. The prior owner had also welded in both inner trunk drop off sections under the back of the car next to and below the gas tank.
The front and rear valances are present and shown in the pictures, they were removed for paint. The bumpers are still on the car. The Chrome headlight rings and trim are all present. I have all the Mustang Scripts and new side marker lights as well as all the other parts for the body.
I have taken pics of both rear quarter panels showing the exterior. They appear to be original panels with no rust issues that I can tell.
THE INTERIOR:The interior of the car has been removed while the body work and paint was being performed. The original color of the interior was Ginger. I have all new interior for the car in Black: Seat Covers, Deluxe Door Panels, Dash Pad, and Carpet. I also have a new Convertible Top upholstery as well as the back glass top.
There is a pic of a stackable rack showing a rack full of parts including the Grill and rear back panel.
All and All this is a great father and son or restorers dream to complete an easy project. Turn this back to original condition or customize this baby, it is your choice.
The car is garaged in Florence Oregon and I can assist in packing up the parts into the car and sealing it up for transport. The original top frame and upholstery is on the car but there are rips in the convertible top so I would have to put plastic on it and tape it to seal it if you are transporting it on an open trailer.
RESERVE:There is a reasonable reserve set on this Mustang. The only reason I am selling the car is because I have several other restoration projects and I have just moved to a smaller property with less garage space. If you would like to see a running video of the engine please email me at Machopper@gmail.com
