1989 Ford E-Series Van

Purchased at the beginning of Covid this van allowed me to get away to some amazing places that otherwise I wouldn't have been able to go, mostly the Eastern Sierra and Southern Utah. With a 12 gallon water tank over each rear wheel and BF Goodrich AT Baja Specials, traction is never a problem. Unfortunately I have hardly driven it in the last year and time to sadly say goodbye. I put less than 12,000 miles on it in 3 1/2 years. The typed list in the pics is what the previous owner said they did to it. I don't believe the torque converter lock-up functions. I changed fluids and filters as needed. 2 new rear tires. New key lock cylinder and ignition switch.Everywhere I take it The Beast gets a lot of attention! Whether the gas station or campground people always take a look. The leather chairs (passenger swivels) are comfy and the cruise control works! It's 9'-2" high and about 21'-6" long. Interior height is 5'-5" (I'm 6'-3") and don't find it a problem. There is a ton of storage, duel LED lights over the counter space with sink and electric pump. Cooking is done outside on the foldout door for the stove storage cabinet attached to the side door. Rear seating is a custom folding leather bench that is also folds into the full size bed with a foam mattress topper. Almost 5' from unfolded bed to back of front seats, plenty of room if you want to bring your dog. Our Great Dane went on a couple shorter trips. There are 2 L.A. batteries in the lower cabinet with a Blue Sea SI-ACR automatic charging relay that powers lights and USB outlets. Turn of a switch and you can jump the front batteries. There is a shore power inlet on the outside but not connected. Lower cabinet has space for a refer but I just used my cooler. Tunes are provided by a Kenwood KDC-X500 with subwoofer and many speakers. Heater and AC work great. There are custom magnetic window screens for those warm nights, rear windows tilt out for great airflow. Small sink and counter space for food prep.On top is a beautiful full length custom bent tube rack, large enough for many surf boards and mt. bikes AND perhaps a sleeping platform. There is a hose and exterior connection to the water pump for outdoor showering.
Under the bed accessed from the rear doors is a huge sliding drawer with all the goodies. See pics: Gorilla lug wrench, custom magnetic window and door netting, never used tire chains, work gloves, new potable camp table, zipties, digital multimeter, spare fuses, lots of bungies, new blue tarp, hammer, snatch block, heavy duty strapping and recovery equipment, hitch accessories, folding shovel, short shovel, broom, adjustable wrenches and misc. tools in box, oil filter wrench, 12 ton bottle jack, 1,000,000,000 candle power light, rock hammer, V1Air 12v air compressor and accessory kit, auto siphon hose, spare plumbing parts, spare fuses and lamps, tire repair kit, 10' power port extension.
Power is from the very dependable 7.3 diesel known to go 500k miles, this one has 125k. Trans was rebuilt about 25k ago. Factory Quigley 4WD with manual locking hubs will keep you going through the toughest adventures. 9" of clearance at the front differential gets you over most obstacles. Custom front box steel bumper with 12,000 remote controlled winch and snatch block, heavy duty strapping will get your friends out of trouble. Beautiful 12v VI-Air tire inflator-deflator for airing down and up. Brand new full size spare for no worries. 3 fuel tanks, all with gauges, for over 500 miles without having to re-fuel! 24 gallons of water storage for long remote campouts. Front of rack has LED lighting for those late night boon docking spots. Rear LED lights and camera are not working, wiring buried under interior finish. That being said, this " aint no efing Sprinter van" but a great entry vehicle for off road exploring that you don't have to worry about getting dirty. It's 34 years old but will get you to where others can't. Located in Santa Cruz, CAI'll answer questions as soon as possible and post updates here to alleviate repetitive questions.
