1966 Ford F-100

1966 Ford F-100.

Desirable Short Bed, Twin I-Beam suspension, perfectly straight frame and alignment, very strong 300 CID straight six, Automatic Green Dot C-4 transmission, Custom Cab with all the chrome trim, Arcadian Blue. California truck continuously registered since new, still with the original California black license plates. Currently registered through June 2024.

I bought this truck ten years ago from what was said to be the original family owners near Sacramento. I drove it 300 miles to Ventura the first day with no problem. It’s nearly original, which is the way I like it, except for some improvements. In the first couple of years of my ownership I re-plumbed the brakes front-to-back, added the dual brake master cylinder, added disc brakes up front, speed bleeders on all four brakes. New steering rag joint, rebuilt the carburetor, added electric radiator fan, fixed the odometer, speedometer, lights, blinkers, horn (but with a button). Fixed fuel tank gauge, added new hard line fuel line from fuel pump to carb. Added electronic points, distributor cap and wires. New battery last winter. Tires were new eight years ago but still good tread, wheels have original dog bowl hub caps. Included are the Four-Volume 1966 Ford Truck Shop Manuals.

I have driven this truck 2-3 days per week to work for the last ten years and it never let me down. I have a few cars, but it was always in the rotation to take it to work and around town.

There is only surface rust, no holes. Some old repaint on roof and hood, but it keeps a classic patina look. No rust on frame. Some body damage on left quarter panel of bed along with old bondo. No rear bumper, no headliner, no radio, tear in driver seat. I believe the transmission has been rebuilt. If I really felt it was necessary, I would rebuild the transmission, but it’s fine for me. It pulls in drive at stop lights so I usually put it in neutral. I wonder if the wrong torque converter was installed if/when the tranny was rebuilt. It never bothered me and I drove it like that. But there is a slow leak from what I think is the seal between the transmission and the torque converter, but the tranny is good.

I just retired six months ago and am traveling with my wife and we plan on traveling a lot more so I’m not driving the truck as much and we're downsizing. I have a low reserve price so someone is going to get a really good deal on a great truck. Best of luck, thanks for looking.
