1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302
Honest representation. This is built to enjoy and have fun in a real Boss but preserve the numbers matching drivetrain if you want to turn it into a show car. This is the Boss you wanna drive and have fun with!!“This 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 was initially delivered to Thompson Ford of Reedsport, Oregon, and was reportedly purchased by the seller’s cousin in 1978 before being acquired by the seller in 2015. Subsequent work included installing a 364ci V8, a Tremec six-speed manual transmission, Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes, and Hotchkis suspension components. Finished in white over black vinyl, the car is equipped with 17” Magnum-500 style wheels, a Traction-Lok differential, a Shaker hood scoop, Sport Slats rear window louvers, a Hurst T-handle shifter, power steering, and a RetroSound head unit, while additional modifications include an Eagle crankshaft and rods, Trick Flow cylinder heads, and forged pistons. This Mustang Boss 302 is offered with a removed 302ci V8, gearbox, wheels, and brake and suspension components as well as a Deluxe Marti report, a window sticker, service records, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.”
The car is finished in white and features black Boss 302 “hockey-stick” side stripes and hood stripes as well as a Shaker hood scoop, Sport Slats rear window louvers, front and rear spoilers, and a black taillight-panel treatment. The hood is misaligned, and additional imperfections can be seen in the gallery below.
Magnum 500-style 17″ wheels are mounted with 245/45 front and 255/50 rear Nitto NT555 G2 tires. The car was equipped from the factory with power steering. Stopping power is provided by Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes featuring six-piston front calipers that were fitted along with Hotchkis suspension components in 2017. (receiptsfor all modificationsdone in 2017, done by JBA Racing).
The cockpit features high-back bucket seats and a Sport Deck rear bench upholstered in black vinyl, while wood veneer trim accents the interior. Additional appointments include a Hurst T-handle shifter, a remote-operated driver’s door mirror, and a RetroSound head unit with USB connectivity linked to aftermarket speakers and a trunk-mounted subwoofer. Repair tape has been applied to the driver-side door panel, there are holes in the headliner, and other blemishes are visible in the gallery. The carpeting in the trunk has been removed.
A two-spoke steering wheel wears an aftermarket wrap and frames a 120-mph speedometer, supplemental gauges, and an AutoMeter tachometer affixed to the steering column. Auxiliary gauges for oil pressure and water temperature are fitted ahead of the shifter. The five-digit odometer shows 24k miles, approximately 1k of which have been added under the seller’s ownership. True mileage is unknown.
The replacement V8 was rebuilt to displace 364ci in April 2017 by JBA Speed Shop of San Diego, California, and it is fitted with a Holley carburetor, an Eagle crankshaft and connecting rods, Trick Flow cylinder heads, King engine bearings, KB forged pistons, an MSD ignition system, and a Champion Cooling radiator. A dynamometer report from August 2017 is displayed in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec six-speed manual transmission that was fitted during the installation of the engine and a Traction-Lok differential with 3.91:1 gearing. A custom exhaust fabricated by JBA Speed Shop is also fitted to the car.
The Deluxe Marti report shows factory colors, standard equipment, selected optional equipment, and a total retail price of $3,730, as well as the build date, data plate information, and 1970 model year production statistics. A copy of the window sticker is also included in the sale.
Included in the sale are the originallyremoved 302ci V8 and four-speed manual transmission, matching stampings from which can be seen in the gallery. Also included are various other removed components, including the original magnum 500 wheels and GT Qualifier tires, brakes, suspension, and radiator.
