Vehicle Details1969 Ford pop top camper van. The Rumble Bus as we like to call her started life in California where she belonged to a doctor for the first 45 years of her life, at which point with only 45000 miles she was donated and auctioned off on eBay. A couple then bought her, had the brakes redone and headed out across the country. At the end of their journey they put her up on eBay again. We stumbled across the listing while looking for a VW and couldn’t resist. Flew out to Kansas and drove her back to PA, she ran strong but was using up some oil. When we got home I took her to a long time race car mechanic and ended up having the engine rebuilt (see receipt) and now she runs strong and burns no oil. We never really intended on using her as much as we have, but it was so much fun roaming around in the old girl that we managed another 15000 miles. She’s earned a few marks and scrapes but she’s solid. I wouldn’t be afraid to fire her up and head cross country. Could be restored, could be converted to 4x4 like the 808 van (look it up) or could be enjoyed just the way she is. Don’t buy her if you don’t like attention, you will get smiles and waves on the road and visitors at the campground. It’s been our experience that money is better spent on experiences than possessions, but I guess this would be a chance to acquire something that would set you up for some great experiences. She’s ready to drive home…
