Description:

1968 Ford Mustang

"C" Code 1968 Mustang with 302 V8, 4 bbl Holley carb, Edelbrock alum. intake, cam, power steering, power brakes (with Granada front discs), auto trans, factory a/c, subframe connectors. It's been in the family since 1992 and was a driver for a while, then was fully mechanically restored in 2000-2002 after which it's gotten about 50 miles/year or otherwise sitting in the garage.
The engine was fully machined and rebuilt in 2002 and runs great. I don't believe it's the original 289 but is a mid-70's 302 with iron heads. The transmission is a "Super Streeter" from www.performanceautomatic.com installed in 2002 (they build these without a kickdown lever though I understand one can be installed). Currie limited slip 8" rear differential with old-school 'slapper' style traction bars. The power steering doesn't have the typical slop for these cars, since it received a new steering box, control valve, and a custom chassis pivot to eliminate slop. It steers better than any other classic mustang I've driven. The factory A/C was completely restored in 2002 under the dash but the condenser and filter/drier were never installed under the hood, so it was never used. Aftermarket 2000-2002 era radio. There are fox-body Mustang (I believe late 80's GT) seats in it with power lumbar, and if kept they would need to be recovered.
The car was repainted at some point prior to 1992 when we bought it. In the time we've owned it there has been no sheet metal work except for the front floor pans being partially replaced and it's not been in any accidents in that time. There is some body filler in the rear quarter panels around the wheel arches on both sides. If I were to be keeping the car I'd probably plan to install some patches in the quarter panels/wheel arches. In my opinion the car needs to be painted, see the images. There are some spots where the 1992 body work is showing its age. I'm not aware of any prior accidents though I do note that the passenger door is off another car (appears to have cut-outs for the Deluxe Interior option, which this car doesn't have). The driver's rear quarter panel has a recess intended for the side marker reflector, which was apparently smoothed over in the 1980's repaint, but the passenger quarter panel doesn't have that recess, though it does have hole that would have received the bolts for the reflector. I don't see signs that the panel has been replaced, so assume this may have been Ford simply using up the '67 sheet metal on a '68 - can't be sure.
Overall the car is in very good mechanical shape and has been getting driven lately to shake off the woes of storing a car, including the brand new tires I just put on it to replace the dry-rotted ones. The car needs little to be a good driver, but to be restored would involve some body repairs and repaint. Once in a long while the radiator fan seems to contact the shroud and make a terrible noise, but it's intermittent and rare so I haven't found the exact cause. Perhaps a worn transmission mount. The interior would benefit from some carpet which managed to get filthy stored in a busy garage, and replacing the seats if 'worn late 80's Mustang GT' isn't your style.

DO NOT BID if you aren't a serious buyer, don't plan to make the $500 deposit payment via eBay, have a negative eBay rating, don't have the money, can't collect the vehicle, have to ask your wife/parents/boss, or any other nonsense - in those cases swipe on to the next ad.
