New top, fun to drive, ready for restoration. Could be a gem
1985 Ford Mustang GT
The Fox-body Mustang has become still more collectible in recent years. These Mustangs have a cult following that’s growing. The 1985 GT features the original ‘four-eyed’ body style from 1979 through 1986. The GT badges and stripes are very attractive, even subtle compared to the ground effects on later GTs. The 85 GT was the last year of the carbureted 5.0s, but that engine came on the 5 speed cars. This car is an automatic, so it has the rare CFI, throttle body fuel injection. In 1985, the GT V8 package was rare on convertibles. Striking auto workers caused delays in the factory tooling to put V8s in convertibles. Around 1350 of these were built with this color combination. The fact that this one’s an automatic makes it even more rare.
This is a really cute pony car inside and out. The seats are 2 tone gray with red piping and super comfortable. The outside has clean 80’s lines that make it stick out in a stable of Mustangs. Under the hood is the GT's 5.0 liter V8 which really sounds great.
This car can be driven, or restored. It’s nearly 40 years old, and has some battle scars to prove it. Passes California emissions, and gets compliments everywhere we take it.
Interior: The dash features a Pioneer tune with CD and Aux and gauges have really cool looking LED lights. The seats are a bit worn, but replacements are available. Same with the carpet. Power top and windows. A/C blows cold.
Exterior: The paint is worn, but has a nice patina. I found the car in the Mojave desert, bought it and replaced any worn rubber and rubbed out the paint. The hood is missing its stripe, I’ve been meaning to put one back on, but just didn’t get around to it. I replaced the top and rebuilt the hydraulics while I was at it. There is some damage to the passenger door (see pics) where I wasn’t paying attention and hit the side of the garage door.
