1977 Ford F-150 Custom

ABSOLUTELY. LOVE. THIS. TRUCK. Simply had my fun with it and now looking to free up garage space and get into something smaller/different, and would like to give another DENTSIDE lover a chance to enjoy this beautiful ride. I am third in line from original owner, second owner sells Jeep CJs and received this on a trade (he barely owned it a few weeks before selling it to me). Original owner performed a complete frame off restoration spanning a period of about 8 years! I have owned it for 2 years (12/2020-Present) and put less than 2k miles on it (taken great care of it). I made a few mechanical repairs that I have all the paperwork for, nothing major in my opinion, just some basic upkeep that comes with owning a 70s style truck like this.

Pros: Three-Speed Automatic Transmission, Dual-Range Transfer Case, 4.11:1 Limited-Slip Rear Axle, 15″ Steel Wheels, 35×12.5″ Mastercraft Courser MT/X tires, Warn Manually Locking Front Hub, Suspension Lift Kit, Front Disc Brakes, Power Steering, Air Conditioning, bluetooth-capable Kenwood Stereo system, Dual Exhaust, unique red knit interior, bench seat, multicolored freewheeling vinyl decal, and even has the original/vintage Ford truck floor mats.

Cons: Previously listed on BAT, highest bidder was 22k but that did not meet my reserve so I kept it but learned a couple things in that process from all the gurus out there.

Emissions: I have tried but have not been able to get it emissions tested in CA. The vehicle is located in CA (temporarily stationed here by military orders) but registered in my state of legal residence (MO) and it so happens that my county in MO (Pulaski) does not require emissions testing so there has no been no real need for me to get it done except for now that I am trying to sell it and make it more marketable. I brought it in to a local emissions testing shop over a month ago, and they told me the RPMs were too high (1350) for them to be able to test it. So, I then contacted two local mechanics (I am NOT mechanically inclined), one said they would call me back and never did. The other one told me they were “too busy this year” that they did not have time for it but I could try them again next year. For that reason, I reduced the purchase price to where it is now.

Chassis VIN: Someone on BAT pointed out that the the 133″ wheelbase noted on the vin tag should be associated to a long bed but in fact this is a short bed. That leads me to believe that at some point during the restoration, the cab was swapped and so there could be a different VIN on the chassis. I have attempted to locate the chassis vin (without removing the frame) and I can’t seem to find it. I know the previous owner had the vehicle registered in FL and I registered in MO, and neither state even asked about this (only a BAT guru noted it). So, this has not been an issue at all for me or previous owner, but want to share what others have pointed out in interests of transparency.
