Vehicle Details

Looking to rope in attention in dealer showrooms, in 1992, Ford offered a Special Edition Mustang LX 5.0L convertible. With plans for it to be available in time for the summer season, the final package was red hot, featuring a vivid Performance Red paint. It also received body-colored side mirrors and A-pillars (a change from the standard black). At the rear of the vehicle, the convertible’s decklid luggage rack was exchanged for an exclusive rear spoiler with high-mount stop light. Other exterior visual cues included Opal Pearlescent cast aluminum 5-spoke wheels and a power-operated white convertible top with a glass rear window.

Inside, the cabins were fitted with black interiors but given unique white leather front seats trimmed with black piping. They matched the white door trim panels and Ebony carpeting and headliner, the latter being a first for the model. The result was crisp and striking, providing a look unlike any of the other available configurations. Meanwhile, under the hood, the package came equipped with the multi-port electronic fuel-injected 5.0L V-8 engine delivering 225 HP. Being LX trim, the suspension featured power rack-and-pinion steering, power front disc and rear drum brakes, and a larger front stabilizer bar. They also came equipped with a Traction-Lok axle and dual exhausts.
