Description:
1976 Ford F-250 Ranger
Up for sale is my daily driver 1976 Ford F250 Highboy. It was built in San Jose and spent most of its life on a Colorado farm before the previous owner put it back on the road. It has the original 360 stroked to a 390 and bored .030 over, with functioning air conditioning. It also has 4 wheel disc brakes with a parking brake, and power steering. I have converted it to the 73-75 style front end. Here are the engine details: long tube headers, 2.5 inch exhaust under bed dump, Rv cam, edelbrock 1906 electric choke carb, CVF racing 3 pulley accessory. drive. Power steering upgrade, Classic auto air r134 ac. That 390 is backed up by a NP435 transmission and a NP205 transfer case both in working order. Ignition is handled by a HEI distributor installed in 2021. Cooling is handled with a be Cool radiator that does have a fan shroud. The alternator is a 140 amp unit built locally, the previous owner intended to put off-road lights on.
Truck sits on vintage white wheels with 35 inch tires, new warn hubs. 4.10 gears, original Dana 60 out back with a Dana 44 on the front. Diffs transfer case and transmission serviced in 2019, with a new clutch installed in 2021.
The truck has a dual channel AFR/Lambada gauge using Bosch sensors in each exhaust bank. The truck also has two magna flow catalytic converters and walker quiet flow mufflers. I tuned the carb and recurved the distributor as well. Both the carb tuning kit and the distributor spring kit come with the truck in the event you need to adjust for your altitude. I have not had the truck on a dyno, but I get plenty of torque and it averages 14mpg highway and around 9.5 in town.
Underneath the interior is sound deadening material on the floors, roof, bed tank, doors, and firewall.
The truck has too many new parts to list, but a few of the highlights are: new windshield and gasket, engine rebuilt in 2019, new 35 inch BF Goodrich KO2 tires with 45,000 miles left on the warranty, new headliner, new headlight switch and wiper module, new gaskets for the windows and newer gaskets on the doors as well as the back of the hood, new lighting all around, new interior door panels, new retro sound radio with bluetooth and aux inputs, and new carpet on the floors. I have over $13,000 worth of receipts on hand for this truck, most of them are from 2021 and 2022. I even repined the door locks to match the ignition key, so only one key is needed.
The Good: This truck is fully functional, everything from the reverse lamps to the glovebox light work. It has a working horn, working wipers and windshield washer*. This thing has been daily driven for at least three years, and has a very good shot at passing a state inspection with little to no additional work required. The body and frame have no rust holes, and the only metal patch I am aware of is on the lower drivers fender. The truck does have a new state issued vin on it due to its previous life as an off-road farm vehicle. The truck came to me with a clean Colorado title, and currently has a clean Florida title. I have had no issues registering or insuring this truck.* a new washer reservoir is on the way.
The Bad: The paint is a solid 4/10; its good from 20 feet but has a lot of runs. The bed is a replacement from a 1977 or later truck. The bed floor and toolbox are solid but the bed sides do have some pitting, as well as body filler and waves in the metal from farm use. It is savable should you choose to repaint it. Since my last deployment, the new oil gauge seems to have stopped working and the intermittent function of the wipers sometimes doesn't want to work now. The oil sending unit and wiring tested good however. The two speed wipers are still very much functional.
The Unknown: I have not towed with this truck, so I don't know if the trailer light connector is fully working. I get some voltage at the pins, but have not fully tested it with a trailer hooked up.
I have a few spare parts that come with the truck as well.
Overall, the truck is a solid daily driver that would be easy to get registered in a state with inspections. If you are looking for a highboy that is complete, this is the one. The body is solid with no rust holes and has potential to become a very nice show truck if desired. First cash in hand takes it. Local pickup only, and I will only accept cash for the truck, no money orders or cashiers checks.
