1970 Mustang 351C 4V Shaker Hood Hurst Top Loader 4 Speed Competition Suspension
1970 Ford Mustang
Very Rare Possibly a one of one car with the unique and limited options.
1970 Mustang Hardtop with the famous 351 Cleveland 4 Barrel Engine with Factory Original Ram Air Shaker Hood and Factory Hurst Shifter Top Loader 4 Speed Transmission and Competition Suspension. It has the factory Ford 9 inch with 3.25 gears.
These are the only options on this car. It does not have power steering or brakes, No AC. No Dealer ad ons.
It is a factory ordered bare bones 1970 go fast car.
The engine has recently been rebuilt with the best parts available. The block is bored .030 over with Speed Pro Forged Pistons and Moly rings. The rods have ARP bolts and resized. All new bearings. Complete Balanced assembly.Felpro Gaskets, Double Roller Chain, High Volume Oil Pump. Moroso Oil restrictor set installed. 8 Quart Oil Pan. It has Closed chamber 4V heads with Screw in Studs and guide plates, Double springs and spring cups like the Boss 351. Hardened Push Rods and Harland Sharp roller Rockers. It has an Offenhauser 360 Aluminum Dual Plane 4V Intake with a like new Holley 750 Double Pumper Carb.(I have the original Iron Intake and Autolite Carb)
The cam is a Very Nasty sounding Competition Cams Solid Lifter with .560/.580 Lift.254/263 Duration at .050 on a 108 Degree Lobe Center. It has Electronic Ignition with an MSD 6A Module. It has an aluminum high volume water pump and a new 24 inch 3 row aluminum radiator with 2- 10 inch electric fans.
The 2.78 low Wide Ratio Top Loader was rebuilt with new upgraded bearings and Synchro Blocker rings. It works perfectly with the factory Hurst Linkage. It still has the factory reverse actuated column lock and reverse light switch. (I have the original shifter boot) A new 11 inch performance clutch was installed.
The 9 inch differential was not a factory locking orposi traction. It was upgraded with a Richmond 28 spline Posi with new bearings.
Still the 3.25 Gears. (I have the original open carrier)
The exhaust system is new with Hooker Super Comp Headers into 2.5 inch IDPipe into Flowmaster Super 44 Mufflers and Flowmaster 2.5 ID Mandrel bent Tail pipes out the back. Not real loud but very aggressive sound. (I have the factory original Exhaust manifolds with stock bolts and the original heat stove going up to the air cleaner. This is tough stuff to find.
The car still has the original drum brakes that were rebuilt.Disc Brakes would be a nice/ needed upgrade.
Parking brake works like new.
All electrical is working good. All lights are working.
It still has the original 14 inch wheels and dog dish hub caps.
The original white letter Goodyear Poly Glass tire and jack in the trunk
This car is a great, fun driver. It has not been restored. As you can see from the photos the body is very straight . The body lines and door gaps are very good. The doors hood and trunk open and close with ease. The paint shines well when buffed and looks great from a few feet away. The interior is original . I think the front seat covers were replaced at some time with
the original style covers. The only change is the Tach and Guages on the column which can easily be removed.
The Hurst Linkage and T handle are excellent condition.
The front suspension is mostly stock / Original
I installed a set of new Ford 1 inch lowering coil Springs with Koni Shocks. The car now has a 60’s style performance stance
I came across a set of Hotchkis subframe connectors so I had them installed. These are a must for any old Mustang. They really stiffen up the body and enhance handling.
The original owner had this car for 49 years and kept it very original. I purchased it from his estate a little over 3 years ago. It has only a bit over 59,000 original miles. I have the original Illinois Title from 1970. It is currently Titled in Arizona with “A” Box Mileage at 59,000 miles.
Most of what was done was because I liked to do it. Not necessarily because it needed done.
This has been a 3 year project for a retiredMustang 70's Street Rodder /Enthusiast
Unfortunately after all this work I can no longer drive a clutch car for very long.
Old age and medical issues are limiting what I can do.
This is a great and fun car to drive. It needs a good home and someone that will enjoy it.
If it were a Mach 1 or Sportroof it would be well over $50,000 in value.
You can own this one which is different in only one way. It is a Coupe/ Hardtop.
My price along with the stock parts is $26,500. If you pay that price I will also include a very nice set of American Made 15 inch Chrome 68/69 GT wheels and GT hubcaps that are in great condition.
FYI, The last two photos of the car are from when I first purchased the car.
Sorry for going on and on but I really like this car.
