1978 Ford F-150 Ranger Lariat Styleside 8 foot Bed Pickup with lots of Factory options.Since the truck did not sell previously, I have done some routine maintenance on it and replaced the two rear tires so it now has good rubber all they way around.I WILL BE USING THE TRUCK AS MY DAILY DRIVER until it is sold, one of the pictures in this listing shows the truck with 2 yards of fresh mulch.
This is a Great Running Great Driving Very Quick Dependable Truck! It is really fun to drive and it gets lots of attention every where I go.
It was a two owner truck prior to me that needs some TLC, it belonged to my best friend and he willed it to meHe purchased the truck in 1981 and I have owned it for 7 years, the truck was his daily transportation, never used hard or commercially, just his daily driver, camping, general light hauling, etc.The truck is really loaded for a 1978, 131,231 actual miles, (now at 131,546 since I am driving it). It is a Factory Two-Tone Paint, with the Ranger Lariat trim PackageThe truck is equipped with A/C, Power steering, Power Brakes, Tilt Wheel, Cruise Control, Sliding rear glass, Power Windows and has 5 aftermarket Alloy Wheels.
The original engine was a tired 360/2V and needed rebuilt or replaced so I acquired a freshly built engine and gave it to him and we installed it a few years before his death.
The truck is now equipped with a 351/400M Cleveland that currently has about 21,000 miles on it. The engine was professionally built locally by a very well known speed shop at the time.
The engine was bored 30 over, an Isky Performance Cam was installed and topped off with an Edlebrock Intake and a Holley Carb, the Holley was later replaced with an Edlebrock...
The engine is a very strong runner and it has a very nice performance idle thanks to the Isky cam. it runs and sounds fantastic. The C6 transmission was also gone through at the time of the engine swapThe Exhaust system is in great shape front to back and is equipped with Flowmaster mufflers. The owner before me was going to do a few other things to the truck but his health took a turn for the worse and as a result they never got done and truck has seen very little driving in the past 12 years since his death and as a result a few things went bad from sitting so it has had quite a bit done to it lately...New front Calipers, New Pads, Master Cylinder & Booster all brake lines were replaced, a reman alternator, new fuel pump, new radiator & coolant, pump fresh oil change, new fuel filter, new rubber door seals and new carpet. All gauges and lights work. The left power window is noisy but works good. The radio is a later model Ford AM/FM DIN mount systemThe suspension is excellent, absolutely no issues with steering or king pins as they have always been regularly maintained, extra leafs were added the rear springs and new replacement front springs from an F250 were added to raise the ground clearance just for looks. All of the cab mounts are in excellent condition, the truck was undercoated when new and there is just a minor amount of rust in the cab floors, I actually thought it was much worse but upon inspection I was quite surprised. The last underside picture will show the left front cab mount and the rust in the right floor I mentioned, the left side has a similar hole at the same spot. The last few pictures show the underside of the cab especially the 4 cab mounts. The last two pictures are of the rust areas mentioned in the previous listing about the rear of the bed
There is quite a bit of surface rust underneath but very little perforations in the sheet metal.
Due to sitting the paint is going bad especially on the hood, the truck had been repainted many years ago it was at best a fair job. After the engine swap, the A/C was never reconnected. All of the parts, brackets, idler, compressor, condenser and hoses will be included in the sale.
I will be installing the A/C parts as time allows, if I am going to drive it I want to be comfortable. The truck has some minor body damage to the left front fender due to someone hit it in a parking lot, I have a new marker light and stainless trim and the fender looks to be very repairableComes with the original owners manual and several maintenance and service manuals.
I also have a lot of other stainless trim pieces, another grill and shell, other misc mechanical parts and some paint that came with the truck.
I consider the pictures to be part of the description, Please review them all and ask any questions you have before bidding..Before the sale is finalized the prospective buyer or an authorized agent please personally inspect this truck if possible, that way we will all be protectedFor MORE INFORMATION; Please see the previous listing for more details and pictures, I also have a lot more pictures available and I want any prospective buyer to be fully informed so please contact me for anything I may not have mentioned or photographed.
.The truck is located in Akron, Ohio and is currently registered and insured with Hagerty so it can be test driven by appointment. The price listed is much less than the Hagerty insurance appraisal but knowing the truck will need some work I believe it is fair.
I know this is a long listing but I wanted everything to be up front, This is a really nice old truck that needs to be appreciated.Thank you for your interest and your taking the time to read this.
I also have the truck listed on another forum so this listing is subject to ending without notice.
