I bought this car in July 1998 from Phillip Neal at the time he was in Augusta,Georgia in College/Military Training as a Dentist and have tried to contact him to no avail. As I recall he with his father built this from mostly Salvage yard parts over a 2 year period when he 14 years old in Texas and completed it for his Sixteenth birthday in the mid 80's. During that time he lived in Texas and the car followed him to Germany while he was stationed there and then to Georgia. The first time I saw the car I wanted it and thought I should find out if it would be for sale. It was parked at a rental house down the street from my former in-laws' house. The next time I saw it was backed into the driveway with blood red transmission fluid run down the concrete like a gutted animal so I stopped and spoke to his wife. She said against her wishes for it to be kept for her toddler son, he was interested in selling. When I later talked to him we agreed on a price and I towed the car home. I had the FMX transmission rebuilt, then rebuilt the engine compartment wiring harness, installed Pertronix electronic ignition in the Mallory Dual Point distributer, rebuilt Alternator, rebuilt power steering pump with all the hoses and rebuilt (SSBC) valve body unit, rebuilt Brake booster with master cylinder, replaced all the tie rods and steering links as well as poly urethane bushings, rebuilt front brake calipers, new front and rear springs and shocks, Installed a new Edelbrock Carb and Holley spacer to get the right height on the Shaker scoop. Never touched the engine internals as I was told it had about 30,000 miles since the rebuild that included a Weind Aluminum intake on what was said to a 302 with mild cam. The Interior was near perfect when I got it new Dash/AC, seat covers, door panels, carpet, headliner. I added the Folding rear seat assembly but it has so-so original carpet. The only problem with the interior is the seat foam has broken down I think it was original. I installed a Pioneer Super Tuner stereo and added speakers. Also the spare tire is Full size Magnum 500 with matching tire, I think 14 X 7 all the way around. Know that these are what came on it so the tires are probably 35 years old. I drove this car about 3 years and put less than 1,000 miles on it but I enjoyed each one. That was in South Carolina and in 2003 I put it in a shipping container for storage. I moved to St. Louis, MO in 2006 and in 2007 moved the car here(MO) and it has been garaged since. The last time it was driven was 2011 about 40 miles. I have started it over the years on occasion and started it last week to drive it out of the garage and get photos for this listing, and I guess the transmission seals must have leaked out most of the fluid and the tires were low so it struggled a little and it hasn't been run for a few years. I parked it with SeaFoam in the tank and the Clear fuel filter doesn't have any crap in it. After moving it here I discovered that in my hurry to buy my dream car I never really inspected or vetted the provenance. I could not find VIN on or under the dash or door. After I removed the left front fender and found a partial VIN I contacted MartiAuto and paid them to research the partial to get the full VIN, that's when I discovered the Title I have is for a Mach 1 that has this equipment and not the actual car I have found it to be which according to Kevin Martin is a 2 door SportRoof 6 Cylinder 200-1V I-6 with 3-Speed manual and 3.08 rear sold in Dallas with Metallic Chestnut Bronze over Ginger interior Standard bucket seats. Such a Mismatch that I can't sell it with this Title and only a Bill of Sale will be tendered. But if you have a Clapped out Mach1 this is a nearly complete Donor. The body has a couple rust spots pictured at right rear wheel, Hood that was not original shaker, driver door around handle and under rear window trim at top. I have the complete hardware and hood pins setup in the car, they were removed to grind out some rust, as well as the Shaker trim.
Bid to win, I could part this out and get probably twice what I'm asking. It needs to find a new home. If you don't have least 30 Feedback rating don't bid. I reserve the right to cancel bids, Please don't ask me to end the auction early, it will go the full week.
I am sure I've left out other parts I installed and the new caretaker can read through all the receipts(I have about 2 inches of paperwork that will come with the car as well as a 30 gallon tote(which may have to be reboxed to get it inside the car) of extras.I don't have a "BUY IT NOW" option on this. And not going to change it on your request.
