1966 Ford F-100
Old trucks are popular for a lot of reasons: they look cool, they pack V8 power, and they can still do some work on weekends, making them a great way to justify owning a vintage vehicle. This 1966 Ford F-100 seems happy to do whatever you ask: it runs great, it looks like an old truck should look, and it doesn't mind carrying your stuff.Dressed in Holly Green, this Ford gets attention but isn't so perfect that you can't use it every day, even on the job site. It's a reported to be an original paint job and it's obviously showing some age after all these years, but the medium green look still seems very relevant and highlights the unusual fender lines on this final year 4th generation F-100. It shines up well and you'll be proud to roll into the cruise night behind the wheel, and with the flashy rolling stock under it, it's got a hot rod vibe. It doesn't appear to have ever been wrecked or rusty and all that awesome original trim remains in place, so there's no mistaking it for anything else. We're especially fond of the bright strip of stainless running down the flanks, which contrasts brightly with the green paint and the big, red emblems on the front fenders and hood. Out back you have a bed that's covered in matching paint, and the lack of any major dents or chips shows that this truck has never had to work hard for a living. But it's still more than capable and built Ford tough, so you can still use this truck as intended without worrying about scratching some beautiful dance floor.
Matching Medium Green upholstery always works well with green paint and you'll find this truck hasn't changed much since 1966. The bench seat is wrapped with a period-perfect cloth-and-vinyl cover that cleans things up a bit inside, and everywhere you look, things are original and durable. The big steering wheel and column-shifted 3-speed manual transmission are ideal for a vintage pickup, while the big all-in-one gauge packs all the essential instruments, neatly embossed inside a bright machine-turned panel that really shines things up inside. Plush carpets below and beautifully designed door panels at the flanks do a great job of making things look a bit more sophisticated inside, and there's even a headliner up top that ties everything together perfectly. You also get an original AM radio, and the underdash A/C unit is actually blowing cold thanks to R134a refrigerant inside, although a quick charge before the next season could make things a bit more frigid.
Ford's rugged and torquey 352 cubic inch V8 lives under this F-100's hood and it does a great job of making it feel quick around town. Painted bright blue that pops out of the engine bay, it also features things like matching valve covers, an original blacked-out air cleaner with a stock decal, and a minimum of add-ons to get in the way of reliability. In fact, other than your usual maintenance items and a modern battery and upgraded hardware in the A/C compressor, everything looks just like it would've in 1966. Turn the key and it fires up easily and there's a throaty burble from the single exhaust, which features an original-style chambered tube muffler. It's been well maintained and doesn't get fussy out on the road, mostly because there's a beefy radiator up front and the hardware has been proven for decades. The 3-speed manual shifts nicely and clutch action is reasonable for a truck, so you won't mind driving it every chance you get. It's original but very solid underneath, showcasing a lifetime in the warm south, and nothing has been modified or altered so it'll be easy to maintain. A Ford 9-inch rear end should last virtually forever and it sits on painted steel wheels adorned with Ford hubcaps, all of which are wrapped in 235/75/15 radials to help with the sporty demeanor.
This is not some perfect show truck, but if you're looking for a survivor-grade pickup with a lot of style, this is a fine example. With lots of maintenance receipts and inspection certificated tracing back its ownership through the years, you can drive this 'ol bruiser with confidence for years to come. Call today!
