1973 Ford Maverick -- NO RESERVE -- Restomod -- 351W -- T56 6-Speed
1973 Ford Maverick
NO RESERVEI am selling my 1973 Ford Maverick restomod. I purchased this car about 13 years ago from the original owner, and completed a full restoration with performance modifications. The car was repainted in 2018 and shows very well. Everything on the car works, and this Maverick is rust free, spending all of its life in Colorado and California.

The original 6-cylinder was replaced with a 1994 351 Windsor (roller cam motor) with forged internals, aluminum cylinder heads, Edelbrock intake, Demon carburetor, and March serpentine pulleys, among other upgrades.According to the engine builder, the motor makes about 450 horsepower. Also installed was a Tremec six-speed T-56 manual transmission. The shock towers and tunnel were professionally modified to accept the new motor and transmission. Custom engine and transmission crossmembers have also been installed. I have driven the car about 4,000 miles since the new drivetrain has been installed. The car itself has just under 59,000 original miles.
Custom Tri-Y headers have been mounted, along with an X-pipe, Flowmaster 40-series mufflers, and polished stainless exhaust tips. An aluminum radiator, electric fan, and Optima Redtop battery have also been added.
The car has been converted to disc brakes, with Granada front disc brakes, and a rear disc brake conversion from SSBC, with parking brake. The original 8-inch rear end has been fitted with 3.90 gears, and a Trac-Lok limited slip differential. With the 0.64 ratio in 6th gear, the Maverick revs 2200 rpm at 70mph.
The car was repainted in 2018 in the original red. A 1971 front bumper and valance were added, and all exterior trim was removed. Shelby Mustang bullet mirrors were installed. 15-inch American Racing Torq Thrust D wheels and brand new Mickey Thompson tires were added in the last month.
The car handles well, with front and rear Addco sway bars, and new Viking double adjustable shocks. CalTracs traction bars have been added to the rear axle. With the sticky rear tires and these traction bars, the car hooks up really, really well.
The interior is finished in black vinyl and features front bucket seats from a 1967 Mustang, and an Alpine aftermarket stereo. Speakers have been installed in the kick panels and under the package tray. The stock fuel gauge and warning lights are accompanied by AutoMeter temperature and oil pressure gauges along with a tachometer mounted on the transmission tunnel.
The car is offered with service records and a clean California title in the my name. This is a super clean build, and I want to emphasize that the body only has under 59,000 original miles! It drives smoothly and tight, without annoying rattles or wind noise. This is why I originally bought the car, and decided to do the engine / transmission swap.
It makes great, usablepower, while being a great cruiser. It has been daily-driven, and has been on a few road trips, and drives very comfortably thanks to the overdrive on the transmission. It is a joy to drive, it is reliable, and the next owner will get a great car.
