1978 Ford Bronco Custom

This 1978 Ford Bronco is about size, V8 power, 4x4 ability, and an overall upgraded presence. It all makes for an SUV that's both unmistakably vintage and capable.

The second-generation Bronco is where Ford really turned it up a notch. Larger styling, larger engines, and just an overall larger presence. So when it debuted for 1978, it was an instant legend. We really like to see one like this that has some upgrades, but it all still harmonizes with the classic 4x4 style. For example, you have an upgraded set of tubular side steps and 15-inch Pacer wheel. They coordinate with the blacked-out factory grille, bumpers, side mirrors, and headlight bezels. The dark brown metallic paint looks nice against these black accessories. It's the factory-correct color, and it has the kind of presentation that reminds you earthtones look great when they get muddy. And not only does the yellow fiberglass top look good on this Bronco, but it also coordinates with the pinstriping running the full profile and in the tailgate to really bring the total package together.

The interior continues the mix of black and brown. You have nice features like recently re-covered front bucket seats, newer carpeting, and a newer dash pad. There's also an AM/FM/CD stereo with aux input for upgraded driving music. The rear side panels are currently done in wood to house the upgraded speaker setup, but the factory side panels also come with the sale. We especially love these 2nd-gen Broncos because they upgraded the versatility. As a full-size vehicle, there's plenty of room for all you gear. Plus, the trailer hitch means you get to bring even more fun wherever you go. The key-operated power rear window gives you a tailgate that you can sit on everywhere from ball games to the campsite. And the removable rear hardtop delivers a convertible-like feeling whenever you want.

While the previous generation Bronco stopped at Ford's 302 V8, the second-gen means proper 351 V8 power. This has quite stock look, but the details like the newer belts, wires, and hoses all signal proper maintenance over the years. The V8 fires up nicely as it gives a low rumble out of the glasspack-style dual exhaust. A two-speed 4x4 transfer case, beefy axles, and Mud Claw Extreme M/T tires mean this powerful classic can still take you deep into the wilderness. But it also has features like a three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and power front disc brakes to make it a fine choice for in-town, too.

The second-generation Bronco was only available for two years, so we're all on the lookout for a good one. That's why you know this 4x4 will be leaving us soon. Call today!!!
