1957 Ford Thunderbird

1957 Ford Thunderbird with dual quad carburetor set up.1957 Torch Red Thunderbird with bonafide 312 c.i.d. engine and well running dual Holley 4- barrel ECJ-4510 carburetors producing 270 hp performance. (See photos: aspirin sized dot on end of crankshaft verifies engine is a 312 and not a 292) The engine is paired with the correct Borg Warner R-11 3 speed overdrive manual transmission and the legendary Ford 9" rear end which first appeared in the Ford model year 1957. This is a straight,rust-free California car I had transported to Tennessee in a covered trailer.
I received a clear California title and had no trouble getting a Tennessee title and plates for the car in August, 2019.
In preparation for the sale, the following improvements were done:
1. The car was completely prepped, refinished, and painted with Ford Torch Red paint. ($2916)2. New black soft top with new swing bar installed. ($2670) plus labor.3. Gas tank was removed, repaired, reconditioned, and reinstalled with new rubber insulators between gas tank and trunk floor and new pads between gas tank straps and tank.
Other strong points and improvements to the car are:
1, The car has original aluminum intake manifold.2. The dual 4-barrel Holley ECJ-9510 carburetors are a pair of Holley 4000 carburetors which are correct for the manual 3 speed overdrive transmission, ($1600)3. The dual 4 barrel carburetor air cleaner is Ford made, not aftermarket.4. The metal fuel filter canister is original.5. The car features a Ford dress up kit with aluminum valve covers with Thunderbird logo and chrome breather cap.6. The car features a 3 speed overdrive manual transmission and dual quad carburetion. Only 175 Thunderbirds were produced by Ford with the 3 speed overdrive transmission with dual 4 barrel carburetors in model year 1957.7. Fuel pump replaced.8. Overdrive relay was replaced. The overdrive now works perfectly.9. Fuel filter was replaced.10. Oil pressure switch was replaced.11. AC Delco electric fuel pump was installed.12. Trunk lock mechanism and actuating link were replaced.13. Starter was replaced with AC Delco starter re-manufactured in USA.14.Aftermarket gas tank cap was replaced with a late 1957 style cap.15. All 8 spark plugs replaced with N6-K V-Power WR5 #2435 plugs. Old plugs show good combustion in all 8 cylinders.Tan brown color. No oil or carbon deposits. Plugs gapped at spec 0.035" (see photos}.16. Master cylinder replaced.

Total expenses for the above improvements exceeded $10,000. I won this car in an ebay auction on July 28,2019 with a winning bid of $30,000. The starting bid for that auction was $20,000.

In order to get an auto insurance policy on this car, I was required by the insurance company to get an appraisal. This was done by AVR Group Appraisal Services of Houston,Texas on December 17,2019 prior to the above described restoration done on the car. The appraised value of the car was $46,000 before my restoration work. My insurance company insured the car.The appraisal will accompany the car.

An original Colonial White hardtop is included in the sale.It has all the chrome trim, porthole glass windows, and headliner bows. Needs fiberglass repair, rear glass window, and clamping hardware.

Starting bid is $35,000. NO RESERVE. High bid wins the car.
