Fiberine High Top Conversion
This is a classic American van, built to last in 1991. Only a few 4x4 conversions were made, so this is a rare vehicle! The vehicle has spent its life in California, mostly near San Diego, and more recently in San Francisco. In 2014, the engine was completely overhauled. The interior floor completely resurfaced in 2017, and the body is in good condition. Due to the unique nature of this being a 4x4 E250, we sought out this van for a camper conversion. It was purchased in June of 2017, and immediately we began conversion work. It is a beast, and has easily handled the few thousand miles of road trips we threw at it. After a few years, and extensive upgrades, we’re parting ways because life has gotten too busy to give this excellent vehicle the time it deserves. Looking for a passionate owner to keep this big boi going strong for many more years.
This van is meant for someone who wants to continue to make it their own, but we’ve gotten it to the place of being ready for almost any adventure.
Work we did:
The Not-Fun Stuff:
Completely stripped and de-rusted the interior. Applied anti-rust paint, so this won’t need to be done again for a LONG time.
Applied Noico sound deadener and mass loaded vinyl to walls, floor and ceiling to reduce road and engine noise.
Replaced door seals and doghouse insulation to reduce noise and help with insulation.
Covered the floors, walls, and ceiling with XPS foam insulation.
Attached wood studs to metal walls to make it easy to mount furniture, tongue and groove, lights, etc.
Replaced seat belts.
Interior:
Built a convertible bed/dining space. The table top is on a collapsible mount which makes converting between the two really easy. We used a memory foam mattress, so it is very comfy.
The walls were mostly covered by stained tongue and groove, and we have extra T&G that is left for you to use as you see fit.
Laid down laminate flooring in the “living†area and rubber matting in the rear cargo area under the bed.
Replaced the original van seats with a Shop4Seats 3-person bench seat with seat warmers.
Created insulated blackout shades for the rear windows and a sunshade for the windshield.
Had a brand new 10 speaker sound system professionally installed. It rocks.
Head Unit - AVH-3300NEX(Supports CarPlay & Android Auto)
Bass - Kenwood W101B 170 watt
Amp - Pioneer GM-D8604
Cab speakers - Pioneer TS-A1306C
Camper speakers - Kicker 43CSC54 x 2 sets
Exterior:
A Fiberine fiberglass 24" bubble hightop was professionally installed on the vehicle at their headquarters in LA.
Installed rear-view camera that can be viewed on stereo head unit.
Installed a MaxxFan Deluxe in the roof (powered by the solar panels).
Replaced old headlights with new LEDs.
Installed new (bigger) side mirrors.
Installed upgraded Truck Wheels, Tires, and Spare
Installed Wilco Offroad swinging tire rack to hold a full-size spare tire.
Electrical:
Installed 2 100W Renogy Eclipse solar panels on the roof.
The solar array powers a full electrical system, including LED ceiling lights, 12V outlets, and an inverter for powering laptops or any other 120v device. The system isn’t anywhere close to being at capacity and was designed with the intention of supporting a 12V refrigerator.
Installed an Automatic Charging Relay (ACR), which allows the van’s alternator to charge the solar batteries and any excess solar power to be used to charge the van’s battery.
For those that want the nitty gritty, here are the main components of the electrical system. We will also provide a detailed circuit diagram (and care instructions) for the system upon purchase.
2 100W Renogy Eclipse solar panels
Renogy 40A Commander Charge Controller
2 VMAX AGM 12V 155ah Deep Cycle Batteries
Power Bright 600W Inverter
Blue Sea 12/24V Si ACR
