Clean little bronco located in Orange County, CA. The half cab is the best of both worlds. The removable hard top is easy to lift off and store, as opposed to the extremely heavy full size tops that never seem to go back on once removed. Back seat is easy to install, and the bulk head can be removed if desired. I had planned to photograph the truck with the top off, but its been such an attention grabber as a "pick up" that I saw it fit to present as such. You can install a full size hard top, or any soft top of your liking, the bronco is very customizable.
A lot of work has gone into the bronco recently to get it on the road. I was told the motor was rebuilt 1000 miles ago but I do not have documentation to verify. In the past two weeks I have made several upgrades to the motor, all with receipts and warranty on parts purchased from Summit, Orielleys and Ford. Front of motor was removed and new timing chain and water pump were installed. Brand new Holley 4 barrel was mounted on the aluminum intake with new fuel lines and filter. Fuel is supplied from new gas tank and new frame rail mounted Holley electric fuel pump with secondary filter. Clean spark with brand new Pertronix distributor, new coil, new wires, and NGK plugs. Runs cool with new aluminum radiator as well as new flex fan. Hoses and belts are in great shape. Easy cold start, no smoke, no burning smell. Exhaust note is just right with Hedman headers leading to dual glass packs exiting under the body. Three speed manual transmission on the floor. Shifts fine, linkage engages nicely. I was told the clutch pressure plate was new. Clutch operates fine although the fork was hitting the header when I got it and I had my guy shave the fork to clear the header and it operates freely now. Dana 20 transfer case and locking front hubs. There is a hint of sweat from the oil pan at rear. Its not leaking onto the ground, someday it will, and then you can pull the pan and do new pan gasket and rear main seal for about $18. Its nowhere near needing that attention. I parked on my concrete driveway last night after a 20 mile cruise and it didn't mark it's territory at all.
Brand new power steering box from ABS in Orange, CA. These guys know steering and brakes, and I had them rebuild the factory box. Zero leaks and the power steering is a must on a bronco, especially on 33s. The entire front suspension appears to be new, featuring urethane bushings throughout. The springs in the rear are in fine order, I was told it had a 3" rancho lift but I do not have any paperwork on it. It's still a 50 year old short wheel base truck designed for off road use, so do not expect it to ride like a new SUV. Rear brakes are brand new top to bottom, front brakes in fine shape. Road manners are ok, but I believe it could be further upgraded if you want a smoother experience. I have not driven it on the freeway. I am sure you can but this rig is more designed for the road less traveled, in my opinion. The tires and wheels are brand new. E brake works but the release mechanism in the cab needs some attention. It works but not as easily as it should. I notice a bit of the "bronco lean" in the rear, feel free to google it, not uncommon and these multiple ways to resolve. I did not dive into that project, it didn't bother me, and reserve price reflected accordingly. The paint looks great on most of the truck. I was told it was taken down to bare metal and was done with base and clear. The passenger door could use better alignment. I got it to where I felt it was ok, but be advised it is not perfect. The door operates fine and I am told the adjustments can be easily made if you know what you are doing. Driver door is acceptable to me. Tail gate is not aligned perfect but operates fine, I included detailed pic of a rubbing spot, and its hardly noticeable. The trim is all new, and presents nice. Theres a few "boogers" in some not so visible spots where I believe the body man got a bit lazy and lacked on prep. You will find areas where seam sealer was not smoothed out so it looks not so perfect, this is mainly in the joint at bulkhead, and these flaws are definitely not the center of attention when checking out the truck. She presents really well, I just don't want the next owner to be expecting a #1 car with Kindig prep and paint. This is a driver with an eye catching paint job, and reserve price is set accordingly. The glass is in good shape. Some clouding at the perimeter of windshield but no where near needing to be replaces. Chrome bumpers are brand new. The hood latch is a bit tired. Works fine but I may even replace it before this auction ends. Any rust that was on the truck appears to have been completely removed as you will find new sheet metal on the floors and fender wells. Door pillars are solid. Outer rockers in great shape. Inner rockers you can see in pics that someone did some patching. I chose not to hide it with undercoating spray. The fender flare fitment is decent, there are some spots at the bottom of flares that are not perfect, I can text pics, it was too late to add them.
The interior is pretty unique. Dash is excellent, not all hacked up. Speedo and fuel gauge are currently non op. Original retractable seat belts. The seats are unlike anything I have seen. I was going to put stock seats in it but these are pretty damn comfortable and perhaps the new owner will love them. I can get a set of stock seats for under a grand or there are lots of options from aftermarket suppliers. All the lights, indicators and wipers work fine. The heater hose bypass was re routed under the hood but easily re connected. Blower motor works fine, heater core was not leaking at all before we re routed the plumbing. The new floor is great, easy to clean, don't worry if you get it wet. New stereo and speakers are custom mounted in the door cards which were covered in a really cool material matching the tunnel for shifter. Duff shifters and vintage knobs complete the look.
To sum it up, its a pretty cool driver, and the heavy lifting is complete. The next owner will need to give it some TLC but can drive between project days. I reserve the right to end auction early. Most trucks I have put on ebay sell before auction ends. If you have questions, ASK. My cell is 760.822.zero2six9. Local inspection encouraged. I can assist with shipping at buyers expense. Truck is sold "as is, where is" with no warranty expressed, written or implied. $1000 deposit due within 24 hours of auction close, full payment within 7 days. Wire or cash in person preferred. Good luck!
