This Galaxie is finished in the same Corinthian White paint it left the Ford factory with in Los Angeles, California March 27th,1963. Many collector cars are touted as California cars when in fact they have never been to California. This car is a true California survivor; built in Los Angeles,CA and sold new 358 miles north at Hayward Motors of Hayward,CA in the San Francisco bay area. The Galaxie was sold to a family from Castro Valley,CA and they drove the car for approximately66,550 miles. In 1979, the car was sold by the original owner to a local Ford Collector and Galaxie enthusiast, who drove the car 57 miles to a car show across the bay at Stanford University and back to be parked in his collection inside a climate controlled building in Oakland,CA. The car was registered for the 1980 year but never saw the roads from late 1979 until now, the car has been locked away for over 4 decades. This Ford has only spent the night outside of a garage or building for only 2 nights since new in March of 1963.This Fastback Ford is a remarkable find and a prize for a Ford collector. 1963 is arguably the high water mark for Ford Galaxies in quality, and appearance. A 1963 1/2 Ford Galaxie in CorinthianWhite equipped with the high performance "Thunderbird" 390 V8, as well as the top of the line 500XL White trim package and a fastback is the high water mark of the year making this car one of the more desirable optioned Ford Galaxies available. From a historic golden era for Ford quality and style. To find one that is a desirably equipped time capsule to take you back to 1963 is with out a doubt a hard find to duplicate. This car is as original as they come and has never been restored. The cars history is clearly documented from the day it was built 3/27/63 and 2 days later it was sold 3/29/63. Any receipt of service from a dealer installed AC unit in 1965, to oil changes and belt replacements have been kept with the car.Vin Plate Decode:Vin: 3J68Z1545363=63J= Los Angeles68= 2 Dr. Hardtop FastbackZ= 300hp Thunderbird 390 4BBL v8Sequence #= 154536Body 63C = Galaxie 500 XL 2dr Hardtop FastbackColor M = Corinthian WhiteTrim 83 = WhiteDate 27c = March 27DSO 72 = San JoseAxle 1= 3.00:1Trans 4 = Cruise O MaticCosmetically this fastback Galaxie is in exceptional original condition. It is important to note this car has never been restored. The body is straight, there is absolutely zero rust on the car. The beautiful Corinthian White paint is as nice as you are going to find. There are no low spots or fade. In 57 years this paint has spent the night outside for ONLY 2 whole nights! All of the emblems are vibrant and in great shape. All of the original Ford lights lenses are in great shape with no cracks or fade. I really am having a had time with pointing out flaws on this Galaxie. From the cosmetic perspectiveI cannot stress enough how incredible it is to have a 57 year old car as cool as a Galaxie fastback that has only been driven for 66,607 miles otherwise stored inside. At Ford in 1963 quality control and build quality was held to a historically higher standard. With that quality and such little use, its conceivableto see how this Galaxie has been able to be so wonderfully preservedfor over half a century.Step inside this space age wonder and the style blend of luxury and quality is unmistakable that of a Ford of the early sixties. And a 1963 500XL interior is the one Ford got absolutelyright. Starting with the dash which is in perfect condition, all of the polished guages look incredible. The needles are all vibrant and lack any sun fade. The XL steering leading the way looks great. The 500XL bucket seats are in fantastic condition, the detailed seam inlay of Gold and Black in between the white vinyl is incredible. The XL shifter console is in perfect shape and looks great in the car. All of the door panels are in exceptional condition. The beautifulwhite vinyl with the seam inlay theme from the seats continues on the panels. The headliner is in flawless condition. All of the interior 500XL emblems front to back are extremely vibrant and look beautiful. The door jams look perfect, there are factory markings as well as old oil change stickers with more documentation and evidence of the original condition of this car. In July of 1965 the owner had enough of the summer heat and decided to have the dealer install a Mark IV Air Conditioning unit at the total cost of $364.68 a receipt with Original Mark IV AC brochure has stayed with the car.
